Sarah Thaxter, dau. of Samuel & Abigail

I believe this SARAH THAXTER who died in 1711 was not the daughter of SAMUEL THAXTER, as stated in Linda's find-a-grave, but that she was the dau. of JOHN THAXTER.

The Sarah Thaxter who was the daughter of Samuel Thaxter and Abigail Church was b. 16 Nov. 1668; d. aft. 20 May 1725 (div. hus. estate) - See “Mayflower Births and Deaths, Vol. 1 and 2 for Sarah Thaxter:

Samuel Thaxter’s daughter Sarah married PETER DUNBAR and was living when he died in 1720. - See “Mayflower Deeds and Probates, 1600-1850”

Memorial # 32371556
Your memorial 32371556 for Joshua Bemis (1729-1789) is a duplicate of Memorial 22952699 which was created Nov. 2007. It is so very important we do not have duplicates on Find A Grave, if people did not adhere to this policy it would soon be a nightmare. The user (Sheila Thurston) who manages the older memorial is active and perhaps she could transfer the memorial to you for further development. If not, the two must be merged into one. will take care of the merge with one quick email. Thanks, James

RE: Wm Bradford
Great and lucky you for having 6 pilgrim people. I was proud to have TWO. They all inter-married among the families. Carole

Wm Bradford
I encourage you to join the Mayflower Society if you can prove through documentation that you are BLOOD related to Wm Bradford. I've done it. I'm related to TWO original Mayflower pilgrims.

Benjamin Smith Sr.
Hello Linda,
I am looking at your Memorial Page for this ancestor we share and am curious about the entry that says two of his children, Thomas and Ebenezer, "became the transmitters of his name unto this present time." Can you tell me where this quote comes from?

I know you descend from Benjamin Sr's son Benjamin (with no male issue) and I descend from his son Thomas. Banks History of Martha's Vineyard lists 7 children, 3 of whom are male. Also, no descendants of Ebenezer have come forward with yDNA in the Northeast Smith Project for Group 9, so perhaps there are no longer any Smith males from his line.

RE: John Dunbar grave
I did take pictures I could send you if you give me an email. There were 5 stones together in the front right of the cemetery. The best I could read the inscription was. (1) In memory of Isabell (?) wife of Hall Dunbar who died Oct. 16, 1843 age 56. (this would be the date Isabell died, not Hall).
(2) In memory of Hall Dunbar who died June 29, 1856 aged 50.
(3) Illegible stone
(4) Revolutionary War, Aaron Dunar, Conn. Militia, Died Jan. 20, 1820 age 72.
(5) In memory of Mrs. Mary wife of Mr. Aaron Dunbar who died July 18, 1827 (this would be Mary's date of death not Aarons).
That is what I found. I have to reach out to the cemetery office to see if they have a record of who might have the illegible headstone and if John is buried in this cemetery somewhere. Families were not necessarily all together like these 5. He could be somewhere else in this cemetery will an illegible headstone.
If you want the photos I have, I can send them via email if you just tell me where to send it. My email is

Peter Dunbar's father
Hello Linda, Thank you for creating this memorial for my 9th Great Grandfather. Per my research I believe that Robert Dunbar 38974344 is Peter's father. I would love to see Peter linked to his father if you check it out and find you agree. Thank you for all you do for Billie Find A Grave# 48331425
