Bio

I am living in PALESTINE Texas and don't do many graves anymore.

I am going on a man hunt for my DORTCH family in 2023. I have a lot of brick walls. If any one can help please let me know. I know the lived In Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. The oldest I have so far is;
**************

*Walter and Joan moved to Surry County Virginia. According to records of that county, Walter was a miller at the Warneck Mill. Their son John was born two years before both of his parents died in 1964. In Surry County records the name was frequently spelled Dorch.

A Texan's family tree is like a beautiful rose with many fragrant petals, but with any rose, you have thorny branches that needs pruning on occasion....the same goes with families.

Beatitudes of the Family Genealogists:

Blessed are the great grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time. Blessed are all the grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof. Blessed are the grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this our heritage. Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For some, this is their only link to the past. Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember. Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them who owe the family history. Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love. Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."written by Unknown;
