Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Cindy
. Originally from Bradford and West Newbury MA, I now live in sunny Clearwater, FL.

For as long as I can remember, I've beeen interested in cemeteries. Some people see cemeteries as sad, morbid places and some see them as scary or spooky. I see so much beauty in a cemetery. I see stories of lives lived and relationships carried on beyond this world and onto an entirely different level. I don't feel that when someone leaves this world, they're gone forever. I believe that this is only one phase of our experience.

My own experiences have taught me to make the most of this life and not to fear the next, rather to look forward to it with the knowledge that the end of my life "here" will be the beginning of a new and amazing journey "there".

I spend many, many hours exploring cemeteries all over the US and many times, come across the old, abandoned, unkept graves of children. I "adopt" them. I clean up and take care of the graves. I visit them regularly and decorate them to look nice. I just feel that this is an easy and extremely rewarding way to recognize and acknowledge that theirs was a life led. No matter how young they were, they were here. Someone loved them and if those people can't be here to take care any longer, I love doing it for them.

This is a true labor of love and I get so much more from it than I can ever express.

I'm currently working on a project which will become a book honoring the memories of people who've passed and the relationships they held with their family and friends. If you'd be interested in participating or learning more, please feel free to contact me. I have been working with hundreds of families all over the US and I have met some amazing, uplifting and wonderful people. I feel incredibly honored that so many people have welcomed me into their lives in such a personal way.

Please see the link below to find an article written in the Eagle Tribune, describing part of what I do as part of Living To Tell.

RE: Chalking
Thank you so much for the quick response.

I do appreciate your opinion...though we may still have to agree...that we disagree....on some issues.

I will always try other methods...water, photography, etc to see if it helps illuminate information but sometimes I think chalk helps.

I will keep your opinions in mind if, and when, I decide to chalk and always remove it as soon as I have recorded the data.

RE: Chalking
I was very surprised to see your comments.

I do agree that chalking leaves a very abnormal sense and perhaps is damaging to the the stone. I always try to brush off and then wash off (not an easy task) chalk from stones that I feel are important enough to be chalked.

For a short period of time, I believe the benefit of being able to read the data from the stone is more important than any possible damage to the headstone. I have learned that it is important to try to remove chalk from the stone before I leave the cemetery.

FYI --Most of the stones that you see on my website were not chalked by me. I copied pics from others on Find A Grave (with their permission) and I think the information that was obtained was crucial. Every year, every decade -- these stones become less readable. I can't verify information unless I can palpate..(which I do directly from the stone) or read or chalk....

I think that those that have passed would be happy with what I have done to illuminate their lives and not destroy their past. I hope we can find an understanding.

transfer from Butch Cook
Hi,

Butch Cook has ownership of my family's stones from the St. Joesph's cemetary in Haverhill. One of the stone is 9066726. A lot of my husbands family is in this cemetary. Do you have access to be able to transfer these memorials? Thanks Deborah Boisselle

Hello I would like to know how I can connect the Gosselins to their children and parents. I am in the process of getting some obit ordered so that they can be put with the person they belong too. Thank you

Re: Moses Pettingell Photo
Hi Cindy-

Could you please attach your photo of Moses Pettingell # 128294800 and his wife Mary Haskell #128294326 to their Memorials when you have a chance. It is currently attached to one of their children Moses Stuart Pettingell # 38368812. Both photos that you took are wonderful. Thank you so much for finding them. The Pettingell's are my 6th generation cousins.

Best Regards-
Susan
