Bio Photo A sad day today....we lost our Flora

You meet all kinds of people on Findagrave... most of whom are helpful and co-operative. Just spending a few minutes a day on Findgrave can provide a great deal of genealogical input. Thank you for your co-operation! If I can assist anyone, please contact me.

My father, David Kennedy, was an avid genealogical researcher, so you could say, this was one of my inherited interests. He started his search in 1959 after meeting then Senator John F. Kennedy in Washington, DC. He asked my father if we were Catholic or Protestant Kennedys, after which Senator Kennedy suggested that since we were not Catholic, we must have entered the US via Northern Ireland. And the search continues...

Some of my direct lines are Kennedy, Clayton, Merritt, Head, Prothro, Crouch, Wright, Goodwin, Bledsoe, Breazeale, Smith, Guyton, Moorhead, Kirksey, Wyatt, Griffin, Richardson, Meyer, Johnston, Lott, Knox, Gaston, Barnett, Ray, Sharp, Alverson. I have been working on my genealogy since the 1990s. I always try to give credit to those who have done genealogical research ... just a very common courtesy.... Thanks y'all.

Fran

Re: Mildred Epperson #42253639
Fran,
I've linked her to her mother and appreciate you sharing the link. It gave me the opportunity to fix Mildred's name where I had her maiden name in parentheses, etc. Anyway, I've fixed it so she can be located by all her names.

Minnie & bro. Marion Preston Shute
Hi Fran, know what? I am in total agreement with you on this one. I also think after their parents died in Texas they came back to Lancaster. Everything checks out as far as I can see. I did notice on the 1880 census it says Minnie and brother Marion Preston Shute to be born in South Carolina instead of Texas. But I feel they would have to be born in Texas to have left and moved to Lancaster after 1888 after Francis and Mary died. Have you heard of a sister to Minnie and Marion named Anna? All I have is her name and a possible birthdate of about 1880 but haven't found anything else.

Oh I was able to decipher from Mary E. Cannon Shute's gravestone that she was born in 1850 and died in 1888. Was quite a bit of eye strain but I was finally able to make it out.

RE: Jordans of Aiken, SC
Unfortunately, I have nothing positive to offer. Yes, The Aiken-Barnwell Genealogical Society did survey that church graveyard (Aiken County Cemeteries Vol. IV), and merely copied the church records that list Hiram Jordan (Grave # 136) and Captain W.M. Jordan (Grave # 135), with no accompanying dates. Likewise, there are 35 names listed with only grave numbers. And if the church did not record the dates, shame on them! That is truly bad record-keeping. What is possible, is: a visit to Aiken and a couple of the funeral homes there, that have kept very good records of most of the burials in Aiken County. One that comes to my mind is the George Funeral Home, and there are a couple of others that have maintained excellent records. I feel they would allow a person to record information (which I think the Genealogical Society should have done), perhaps under supervision. But they are very nice and cooperative people. Sorry I can't offer more. Buddy

RE: E-mail
Here's the mystery. Yes. You have told me about the "hack", twice now. I have recently responded to a couple of corrections you sent me, but they came back. Your email address appears as Applecross@..., which doesn't highlight - indicating it is not a legitimate address. I'm sure others use your new email address, and if they're not having a problem sending to you, then I suspect it may be my GMail that won't recognize it. Though I find that a bit strange. If I notice the same un-highlighted address in the future, I will send you any response here.

I've deleted the duplicate memorial. Why doesn't your email address work? Applecross...doesn't highlight & I can't add it to a reply message for some odd reason. Did we touch on this before?

Simon Jr & wife Katie Carnes
Fran,

Just want to thank you for taking the time to visit the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery and taking and posting grave marker photos for Simon Carnes, Jr. & wife Katie Carnes Carnes.

When I visit my family in Monroe each June I try go visit several cemeteries and take gravestone photos for all the Carneses and other folks in my family tree. Just don't seem to have the time to get to very many since my family want to spend time with me and I them.

So thank you for your work in helping folks like myself get photos on our memorials and also on your ancestors that we share.

Relations
Fran,
Got your message. Your email address appears, but now as an accessible one. In other words, if I try to send you a reply, it wouldn't go to you.
Yes, I am related to Eunice.
Emanuel "Poss" Quattlebaum was my great-grandfather's (Melvin Milton Quattlebaum) father; his son, Willie Melvin Quattlebam was my mother's (Annie Belle Quattlebaum) father. Eunice & I are distant cousins.
