I've been working on my wife's and my ancestry for a number of years now. The majority of my memorials are in our backgrounds, however if related or not, I feel the more research done, and information provided to each memorial, as well as linking family members, the greater benefit it is to the next person researching.
Please feel free to use any of my photos, I am not looking for recognition. They have been taken to assist others.
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone.
The names and the dates are chiselled out
on polished marble stone.
It reaches out to all that care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse,
Not entirely on our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you.

Memorial for Stanley transferred to you.

You'll be pleased to hear that I've found the grave and will upload pictures shortly. Edward James Horning (d 29-May-1947 a 69) is there too. If you'd like to do the honours and create his memorial, I'll add pictures for him too.

Have just had a great afternoon - checking out all
the Best family from Benjamin and Dorcas LANGDON.
This family is connected to me via Benjamin's Grandfather Matthias and Elizabeth(Jane)FORD - Matthias is my GGG Grandfather. My GG Grandfather who is a brother of John BEST (the father of Benjamin)came to Australia in 1854.
He was a Benjamin as well. Anyway if you are interested I have much on the family of Bests in Qld Australia. Realise they are far and wide and you may not even be connected.
Would love to hear from you or your wife if we are connected.
Many thanks - have put up a number of photos - nothing like as many as you on the web site - of the BEST Family in the Yandina Cemetery in Queensland if you would like to have a look.
|Imasham||Headstone photo of William Yates|
I have seen the headstone photo of William Yates in a number of locations. On it is mentioned his wife Chloe Parish (who had a second husband Otis Bullis). Everyone seems to interpret the photo, and the Find a Grave entry, as evidence of Chloe's grave. However, the way I interpret the headstone photo is that it is William's grave and the headstone just happens to mention that his wife was Chloe. Can you provide any insights? Is this the actual gravesite of Chloe Parish and William Yates?

|Brian K. O||Cecil Roberts|
The only Cecil Roberts listed as buried in the Salem Cemetery is a Cecil N. Roberts, b. 1907, but died in 1992. He was the husband of V. Pearl Snelgrove and is buried in Section 2, Plot 1, Row 7.
Please advise if this may be the person you are looking for.

My great grandfather was Francis Seward. I trying to find info on his first wife Polly Janetta Baker. They had one son together named Francis after his father. After Polly died Francis senior gave his son to his sister and her husband who lived in the US. Would anyone know what happened to Francis Jr. I have been unable to trace him past the age of about 14. Also, if anyone has any idea as to where his mother Polly is buried. Thanks so much.

Hello, many of my ancestors are from Portland. I was thinking of going there to do some family history research but being from the US instead of Canada, I am unsure how or where records would be kept and the best use of my time. Is there a library in Portland and would that be a good resource for newspaper articles and possibly photos of my family? Thanks in advance for any info you an provide.
|Leslie Vaughn||Dr Ezekiel Rose and wife Mary|
Three months ago, you fulfilled my request for a photo of the grave of Dr. Ezekiel Rose and his wife Mary Coard. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to acknowledge your kindness. Acts like yours is what makes Find A Grave work.
