I started out on Find A Grave by adding some grave and memorial photographs for Emily Carr, my favourite Canadian artist. This inspired me to begin researching my own family records (the McCoy and Bell families of southwestern Ontario). I love that this wonderful site offers both emotional comfort to the bereaved and genealogical information to those researching family history.|
Willing to take photos in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada ... please just drop me a line.
If you would like to leave a token for any of these 3 relatives, I would be tremendously grateful (and will be very happy to return the kindness). Thank you so much.
• my sweet cousin Violet Martin (died Nov. 2014);
• my dear father Sam McCoy (2009);
• my beloved mother Hazel McCoy (2003).
Regarding any of the memorial pages that I've created: if you're a closer relative than I am, please ask for a transfer if you'd like to maintain the memorial.

Did you see my last message regarding Betty's birth location and question about her son?
|George DeKay||Betty McCoy|
Birth location: Ontario, Middlesex, Melrose
I was one of the principals who worked on the publication of the London Township History which was published in 2001. I actually wrote the STEEL profile which is rather lengthy and Betty came to the house once with material and also to proof read for approval. Your family can see the two volumes at the London Room, London Public Library.
When did the son die? We have no cemetery record of his interment and there is no stone to mark his existence. The family must have buried him privately without notifying the Board. It was Larry McKay (son-in-law) who contacted us about the opening for Betty's cremains which took place in August. Although she died on June 15, she wasn't cremated until June 18 - and there was no funeral home visitation. Wonder if they found her after a couple of days. Did she not keep in touch with the McCoy side of the family?
Please erase this message from your board once you have read it.

I am on the Cemetery Board for Middlesex Centre and so had to go to Melrose to mark the spot for the cremains. There was no obit in the London paper.
According to the records she was born Mar. 9, 1929 and died in London June 15, 2015.
Her son-in-law made the call to us.
That is about all I know and should be sufficient to complete the memorial.

I understand your Aunt Betty died this past year.
Were you going to complete the Find A Grave memorial for her and link to her husband?
I live near the cemetery and also have relatives buried there so like to see things kept up-to-date.
I remember your aunt and last saw her in the London Room at the library.
