I got hook on genealogy after talking to my Grandfather (George E. Deskins) about the "Good Old Days" and how he had a story about everyone and everything. I started by researching only my immediate family but it has escalated to years of research, meeting wonderful people, hearing amazing stories and with much help from other dedicated researchers. After joining FAG it keeps getting better and better.
I hope that all of realize that we all are related and should treat everyone the way we want to be treated.
My main research is on all the Deskin, Deskins and Deskines lines, but I also do Jackson and Matney
This wonderful tool of FAG is out of this world, I want to thank all the fabulous people that have help me in so many ways. I would not of had the opportunity to meet many of my relatives, as well as others if not for FAG. There is no way I can ever thank many of you, researcher before me, people willing to share info as well as photos and their lives.
I would also like to make a point, this is not a genealogical site, but it gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect our relatives, showing really how small our world is, so I hope that some that feel they don't want to transfer for whatever reason and this is your right, perhaps think that MOST of us, do not do it for numbers but because we appreciate the honor of caring for our relatives like I do. When I hear about my relatives even thou I have never met them, it's like knowing them. Hope this makes sense.

Margie Christine Fleming Deskin
Good Evening To You:

First, I would like to say that Margie Christine (Fleming) Deskin died January 5, 1998. And yes My Aunt & I attended her funeral. Yes it has been awhile, now I will look up her death notice and her husband and their son. I will get back with you on this matter.

It has been awhile since I have any contact with her family, since I am a direct FLEMING FAMILY like Margie Christine but I will do everything that I can to try and help out.

Blessings In Christ Always,

Robert Miller

RE: Elizabeth Victoria Marcum Deskins
I have a copy of death certificates for Elizabeth Marcum & Thomas B. Deskins. Both say they are buried in Deskins Cemetery.
Also have a copy of their son Thomas B. Deskins death certificate who died in 1957 which states he is buried in Deskins but his headstone application states that he is buried in Marcum Cemetery, Kirk, W.Va. I would guess that if the military stone was to be sent to Marcum cemetery, then that is where the son is buried.
Hope that this helps. Marjorie (MGlazeHart).

I have a suggestion. His grave site plot is listed on the Find A Grave page. Call the city and ask who is buried in that plot.

I did a inventory of the whole cemetery from the cemetery books owned by the city of Austin. In Tx all that is required in the records are the name of the deceased and the date of burial. A large number of those buried in Evergreen have no stones so all I posted is the date of burial.

RE: Herman Deskins
My mother (Ruby Mutter), told me that Herman used to have a pair of bronze baby shoes from the time he married Ethel that he kept put up and no one could mess with and he would never say who they belonged to.Don't know if this is a story you wanted or not but thought I would share.
