Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing my geneology now for over 20 years, it started by my science teacher (Mr. Tommy Guice) making me do one for class and after that I was hooked. I have compiled a lot of information on the Gilleland/Phillips/Lance/Thomas/Dobbs/Teague/Tigue families, and I am currently trying to put a Gilleland family history book together. I do believe that preserving our past is part of our future and I think it's very important to know where you come from. I currently live in New York City, but long for the green grass, mountains, trees and cows of Alabama...hahaha

New Canaan, Jackeon Co., AL
Jeffery, I have always lived in this area of the New Canaan cemetery. The cemetery was never called Grace. New Canaan church members build a new church building across the road from the old building. Along came a church group looking for a building to rent or lease. This church group that rented or leased the New Canaan building is called Grace. For some time now, Grace members have been gone from New Canaan's old building. Grace members are now in a building where Town Creek Church once was located on the edge of the Town Creek cemetery near Plainview School in DeKalb County.

We all need to be careful that we don't assist others from outside this area who have wrongfully changed the names of some of our cemeteries on web sites. The Grace Church sign now on the grounds at the former location of Town Creek. When someone from out of town comes to the new location of Grace, they may call Town Creek cemetery wrongfully Grace Cemetery. The Tiwn Creek sign was no where to be seen at Grace recently when I was there.

I'm not telling you what to do, but you may want to consider removing the photos of Grace Church at New Canaan in Jackson County. I do appreciate your work with Find A Grave.
I tried, without success, contacting Find A Grave when they first posted New Canaan as Grace, but I never received a response.

Lance family pictures
I'm the daughter-inlaw of Florence Lance Marshall my daughter has several pictures from Florence Lance's album. We don't we know who most of them are, but we are willing to try to get them on a pc to show or share with anyone interested in looking at them & identifying them. We do have some that are named including one of some Freeman's.

Daughters of Reuben J. Malone and Malissa Chitwood
Hi Jeff
Reuben Jefferson Malone and Malissa Chitwood had 7 daughters;
Alice b. 1861
Nancy b 1863
Fanny b. 1866
Tennie Jo b. 1868
Mattie C. b. 1870
Elizabeth (Bet) 1872
Jennie D. b 1876

Tennie Jo was my Great Grandmother. She married William Preston Davis in DeKalb County, AL and they moved to Missouri. I think that may be why many people don't know about her. The Joel T listed on census records may have a nephew and the Terra listed on some records may have been a misundestood "Tennie Jo"
Thanks for all the work you have done with this site and genealogy in general. It is very, very important.

Thank you for transferring the memorials of Jesse, Willis, Temperance and Sarah Ann Baxter to my care. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make the memorials and photograph the headstones for the memorials.

There are two entries for this person on findagrave and I'm wondering which one of these are correct. Did you take the picture of her tombstone and can confirm she is buried at Fox Cemetery? The other entry is at Abbott Cemetery;Abbott Cemetery

Can you please let me know? If the other is incorrect, we can ask it to be deleted as to not cause anymore confusion.

Hello, I am researching this family and am wondering if you have any more informaion on her siblings or her father, william Graves.

I am decended from her brother Aaron Graves. There id debate about Indian back ground for William Graves and also conflicting information for the wife of Aaron Graves. Any help you might be able to give would be appreciated.
