Born in North Carolina, but have also lived in New York, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Washington DC, and South Carolina. Graveyards and tombstones have always been a curiosity to me, and I always wanted to know something about the people buried there. I was a data entry operator for many years, also a history and genealogy addict. Since being retired, I've put those things to use to help make sure that people (and pets) that I put into Find A Grave are more than just names on a tombstone. |
With this exception, I am not one of those people that dictates rules (including my own quirks) to everybody. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and it is not my way to tell other people what to do, nor do I appreciate anyone dictating to me. This is supposed to be a service to people for remembering their friends and relatives, for history, and for genealogy. Also--if anyone duplicates any of my entries---so be it. I'm not going to whine about it. Someone else can do that.
I would like to add that I do try to cooperate with everyone, and am happy to do so, but expect to be spoken to with decency and respect when being asked to make any type of change. (As I've come across a few people that were downright pushy and rude). And I WILL be happy to connect a person that has an unknown grave. If no-one knows where they are now---they probably never will. But those people are important links in the family tree too. Sometimes it's those links that make it possible to get the family all together.

|James Webster||William Carter (1809-1893)|
Hey there Sleeping Dog! I run across your username a lot.
You sent me an edit request on the above William Carter. The edit request is specifying himself and his wife as his parents.
This William Carter was the son of James Carter and Elizabeth Betsy "Lizzie" Webster Carter (daughter of John Richard Webster Sr and Margaret Maggie Walker Webster - my 4th great grandparents).
His wife Elizabeth Webster Carter was the daughter of Pleasant Webster and Hester Fontaine Foy Webster (my 3rd great grandparents).

My pleasure! We are trying to determine if he was a Jewish Civil War Veteran for our project. I'm guessing if he was Jewish, he was not a practicing Jew.

Thank you for creating Soldier Laxton's memorial. He was killed in action. Near the time my Father was killed.
My Father was James Archie Holder. Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, Watauga County, N. C. Memorial #24555734. I would appreciate it if you would delete the news paper picture from my Father's memorial. I have a lot of nice enlarged photo's I can add.

There are 2 memorials for Reo Knight "Jack" Scott. # 128337807 and # 138099783. I have a copy of his obit. He is buried at Lakeview Memorial Park, Guilford Co. Your info looks a whole lot better that the other and yours was entered first. On your memorial I will add any edits that I have.

I was doing some linking of photos to people without and ran across this article of what occurred with your relative, thought you might find it of interest. http://library.davidson.edu/archives/davidsonian/PDFs/19220210.pdf

Do you know what happened to the URL links for her parents? I am researching that family line now. Thank you!
|Sullivan Purcell||RE: Emil Ammarell|
No, unfortunately, I have no further information on this family. I found the obituary in an old newspaper. The Sullivan County Record is available online at nyshistoricnewspapers.org. Click on Sullivan County on the map and you'll find it listed there. Also, you might want to search the Brooklyn Daily Eagle since that's where they lived. You can find it at the Brooklyn Public Library's website. You may find other family obituaries in the newspapers at both these sites.

I wanted to be sure before I tried to get them all attached but with the name and birthdates the same it has to be the same man. :)
|Sam Eanes||RE: Garvie Gann|
OK, That seem alright to me. Anyway you want will be OK with me.
It seems funny. I have had lots of duplicates but never one that is exactly like this one. I am just so glad you found it.
|Sam Eanes||RE: Garvie Gann #139526241|
Since Garvie is in Oakwood I could just transfer the memorial to you. Your memorial was put in a few years before mine so you have the right to the memorial. You then can make any changes you need. You could copy anything from mine and add to yours to make yours correct.
If you want to go this way and you make your changes you would have to transfer my memorial back to me so I can delete it. Find A Grave will not let anyone delete a memorial that was transfered to them.
Do you know of any other way we could make the changes
