Bio and Links
Bio Photo Although an Asheville native, my genealogical bases are Yancey, Mitchell and Iredell Counties. Surnames closely related to me are Vickery, Morrison, Bradshaw, Stevenson, Gibson and Bagwell.

I will never create a grave for anyone about whom I know nothing; if I do not have any information other than two dates I leave creation of the memorial to someone who hopefully does have it. These people deserve more on their memorials than just dates, no matter how large the cemetery!

Those who transcribe whole cemeteries without even bothering to use dates, just to boost their numbers, should be banned from the site, in my opinion. With the resources of the Internet now available, there is no excuse for such.

However, I am happy to transfer graves of any persons who are not related to me, to anyone who is related to the deceased. That said, please do not abuse this. Thanks.

PLEASE NOTE: We can NOT link parents to children! That is, we have to link children UP to parents, not link parents DOWN to children. It's just the way the site works. Please do not contact me about adding children to the parents' graves. I can't. Instead - contact the creators of the chidren's graves and ask them to link the kids UP to the parents - it is the only way to do this.

Kindly refrain from post death certs on my memorials. Photos are great, however.

What's your opinion on the "Two Andrew Hamptons" issue, whereas Ezekiel is the son of a different Andrew? Col. Andrew's children as stated in his will: Washington, "my children or there Heirs as afoursaid namely Jonathan, Susanah, Andrew, John, Elizabeth, Nancy, Benjamin Alcie, Rachel, & Mary, Adam, Michel & Catharine Dead" (Notice: no Ezekiel)

How are we to know, then if the Ezekiel link is not also the actual site of his burial since it seems to be for Bridget and is the same source? I emailed Gwen Bodford (Hope she's still accessible!) to see what her perspective on that link would be after all these years. Fun, isn't it! :)

I am, through Bridget and the Garlands. I'm going to pursue that link as well, as Bodford's 2002 note which Jeff cites as authority also lists unknown burial for Bridget, though others seem confident with the listing of the site: Red Hill Cemetery
Mitchell County

which is posted and photographed on her memorial. What do you think?

What do you think of Jeff's suggestion to petition to mark Ezekiel's memorial site as a cenotaph? He claims the memorial may be deleted by findagrave otherwise....?

RE: Ezekiel Hampton Sr. 25238132
Hi Mark, Thanks for the suggestions about unknown site. I'll add that. But Jeff also sent a very pointed email with this note: U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006 about EZEKIEL Sr Hampton
Name: EZEKIEL Sr Hampton
Birth Date: 1735
Death Date: 1811
Cemetery: James W. Bailey Cemetery
Cemetery Address: Burnsville, NC 28714

Is this also an error? And how do we find out.

Thanks, Mark. I just received this site and am working to correct and enhance the information there. The original host for the site passed away as I understand it. I'll work to upgrade it some more and try to insert correct information for the memorial. If you find anything on the correct site for the memorial let us know! Roger

RE: Ezekiel Hampton Sr, 25238132
I know Ezekiel Sr's burial site is unknown. I have not visited Bailey Hill Cemetery, only James Bailey Cemetery where Ezekiel Jr and Susannah are buried. Someone has Susannah at Bailey Hill also but the stone is obviously the same one from James Bailey. Looks like there are 2 different memorials for Susannah (one in James Bailey and one in Bailey Hill).

Greene Cemetery
Mark, Would you tell me exactly where on Minnie Lane this one's at? No map or GPS listed with it. Looks like you created this cemetery in Mitchell Co.
