I have been doing genealogy research for over 20 years. I started the hard way, back before the internet. It's so much easier now :) Since I have done so much research on my own line, I now enjoy helping other people with researching their own families and this website is a great tool. I enjoy not only listing memorials but linking people to their family members.|
If you want a parent or grandparent transferred to you (or a sibling) let me know. Regarding Findagraves guidelines for transfers related to direct relatives:
You might ask- What if a member will not transfer my relative to me?
If the memorial in question is a direct relative within four generations (siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents) to you and the original submitter is not direct family, then your wishes supersede theirs under our "Family First" policy. If they refuse to transfer your relative to you, contact the administration and we will work on it for you.
Please remember that there are thousands of contributors to Find A Grave, and it is highly likely that some of those contributors will actually be part of your family tree and share some of your ancestors.
Also, the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it

Hi Julie, thank you for responding!! I have just recently gotten into geneology and now I'm obsessed! :-) Melisia is a surprise to me since I just learned of her existence today. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Julie, do you know anything about Melisia McFee Cumby (Find A Grave Memorial# 39620207)? She is buried between my great grandparents (Charlie and Allie Dennis)

Hi Julie! Will you please transfer the following to me: Charlie Dennis (Find A Grave Memorial# 39623983) and Allie Dennis (Find A Grave Memorial# 39623939). These are my great-grandparents. I've added an updated pic of both of their headstones. Thank you for taking the original pics and adding them!! :-)

Would it be possible for you to transfer this memorial to me. Dora Alice Dodd is my husband's great-grandmother. Thank you in advance.

Alexander was my Gr Gr Grandfather, his son John Alexander Simmons was my gr Grandfather,he died in Greer County Oklahoma in 1908. Yeas it is always nice to find new cousins.
Alexander & Nancy Elizabeth Whitten Simmons were my Gr Gr Grandparents. At one time they owned the land that they are buried on. I had always thought the cemetery was called the Simmons Cemetery.
Are you related to the Simmons Family
|Michael Simmons||Eunice L Simmons|
You asked for info on my g'mother who was married to Charlie O Simmons.
She has a Find A Grave memorial number now: 66422544.
Genealogy is SO MUCH FUN!!! I'm really having a blast: however, I've noticed some errors like on ancestry.com (another family side) I have a one 4th gr'grandfather who had a son when he was only 6 years old. Obviously a BIG ERROR on someone's part! Lol!
It's really great to see you and your family on facebook.

Thank you so much for the information. You are correct; it is confusing. I've only been working on this a few months. When I was younger, my Grandmother had me write some things in her Bible, but we didn't talk about family history that much. Now that I'm retired, I thought I'd do a little work on it.
I was just in the Canton, Tx area researching the Phillips line of my family. I couldn't figure out why my great grandfather (Solon Baxter Chandler) would have gone to Texas, meet my great grandmother (Dillie Phillips), and then move back to North Alabama. Of course, I still don't really know, but it made more sense to me when I found Chandlers in my family who lived in Van Zandt Co. TX!
I haven't met Charles, but maybe I will one day.
Thank you for looking for the photograph.
This whole process is both fun and frustrating. I suppose it's easier now with the internet than it was previously.
I'm in Louisiana.
