I have been into genealogy since 1983 when a family member contacted me for information. Since then it has been hobby that never ends, a puzzle incomplete. The earlier years were different when I sat in libraries and historical societies throughout the northeast USA and read thru the microfiche. I did photograph headstones, but back then only because it might have been different or pretty. "Find A Grave" is a great treasure.|
Living in the historic Wyoming Valley of Northeast PA, there are many cemeteries that are old and need to be preserved or logged soon.
I plan to do my share, and pass it forward .......
Since I also photograph as I travel I add many who are not of my family. If you have a family connection with any of my entries, please feel free to ask for transfer...
I HAVE WALKED AND PHOTOGRAPHED OVER 1700 HEAD STONES AT WEST PITTSTON CEMETERY, LUZERNE CO., SO I CAN POSSIBLY OFFER LOCATION HELP. Also, completed photographing Eaton Cemetery, Mosier Cemetery and other small family burying grounds
My most recent project was helping to finish the transcribed and digitization of the record books from Pittston Cemetery, and working with the negative scanning project from the Greater Pittston Historical Society ( GPHS ). Also helping to transcribe the old record books from the City of Pittston.

Thank you for posting the information about my grandfather, buried in West Pittston Cemetery. I think I visited that cemetery as a child over 50 years ago. I haven't been back since then but I'm hoping to make another visit soon. It must be a large cemetery and I certainly don't know my way around it. Can you give me any pointers on finding my grandfather's grave?

Thank you so much for your time and effort in getting a picture of Maureen's stone. It's very much appreciated! ~Sherry Craig Retzler

Could I get you to delete the two photos you did and placed on memoriam #140052174 for Elizabeth Greenhalgh Harlos? This headstone is for her mother in law - who already has these same photos. The Elizabeth Greenhalgh Harlos was born in 1889 and the photos you took were of the Elizabeth born in 1857. To make it even more confusing, both their husbands were named William (father and son both married an Elizabeth).
Thank you so much for the detailed photos !!!

Thank you Sharleen for your reply. I walked thru the Brick Church Cemetery a few years ago. I thought it was the same. I've saw the article in the Greater Pittston Historical Society newsletter. I've done some research on Melanie Chapel. Thanks again for your help. Betty

I was wondering if you knew if the Brick Church Cemetery was once the Melanie Chapel Cemetery? I have several relatives buried in Melanie per their obits and would like to post them on Find A Grave in the correct cemetery. Thank you for any help you can give me. Betty Anderson

Thanks Sharleen, I will look for other members of his family. It's always helpful to find an obit with children and siblings.
I'll know Spring is here when the rhododendron blooms in Carverton Cemetery. :)
