-She Walks These Hills-|
"She walks these hills in a long black veil, she visits my grave when the night wind wails.
Nobody knows, nobody sees but me...."
(song lyrics by Dill and Wilkins)
For years I have been intrigued by researching the history of my family. I had no idea when you pull one thread, dozens more appear. I have met many wonderful fellow historians in this pursuit and in this aspect I am forever grateful to Find A Grave.
I simply enjoy people's stories and each grave and headstone mark a life that has a story that is waiting to be told once again.
Often times we are so consumed by our own lives we forget- or overlook the voices from the past. They were here before us, we can learn from their lives.

Hello, I am actually trying to track down the possible whereabouts of a portrait that may have belonged to these Winstons'. My great, great, great, great, great, grandfather was Richard Hoomes of Bowling Green farm in Caroline county. There is a grainy picture of this portrait and one of his brother William in an old family history book I have. Any ideas on where, when and how their estate and belongings were settled could be helpful. My email is email@example.com, thank you for your time. Jim

I finally got around to writing what I hope is an appropriate biography for him. When you have the chance please let me know if you think there's anything else I should add. Hope you are well.

I believe we have corresponded before about my ancestors, the Lowry family.
I have recently found documentation the leads me to believe there is a graveyard behind homes on Henry Forest Way (Montpelier) where my 2nd great grandfather Patrick henry Lowry (1845-1915) is buried. His grave was unmarked and I have a record of my great grandfather applying for a US military headstone which was made in 1932 and placed on his grave.
I found this information: "Partick H. Lowry, Confederate Soldier". No dates. The stone is located in a small cemetery behind a house on Henry Forest Way (This is apparently a newish development because the road isn't in my map book of Hanover Co.). There are 12 graves in the cemetery but no other names on the list for that cemetery. Henry Forest Way is in a section known as Claybank, which is south of route 54, north of Green Church Road (657), and bounded by Scotchtown Rd. (671).
I have been through the list of cemeteries in Hanover County and cannot locate this one. I thought I would ask you if you know if it's existence...?
Thank you for ANY help you can give me!

Nice to meet you!
You posted interments into the Cason Cemetery and I would like to know if you know exactly where this cemetery is at. I've been keeping my eyes peeled with no luck.

Hi - I don't know why my email wouldn't work. I was without it for a month or so, but that was because my computer died, so your emails should have collected along with all the others!
In the event you have a problem with firstname.lastname@example.org, which I've had since 1997, you can use my backup, which is email@example.com.
The Yellow Tavern observance might work out for me.

Thanks so much. I hope to be able to visit Hollywood in the fall but I have health issues and it might not work out. I would like to have a photo of the full plot if possible. I like to have that plus if I am able to visit it helps to identify. I will check to see if there are others to photo while you are there. You are so kind to help. Susan

Hi Sandy. The photos are there on the second page but in the very small size. I tried to save and make a copy but it did not work. If I enlarged to a 3x5 it was digitazed and blurred. Hopefully since the small size is there Find A Grave can restore the normal size on the first page of the posting. Thanks. Susan
