Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired. I've been researching my assorted families since 1985. I belong to several Genealogical societies and have worked on some indexing projects here in Illinois. Northeast Philadelphia is where I grew up. I've found several burials on find-a-grave that I didn't have. They complete the family stories. I hope I can help others by adding names and photos to this project.

Thanks so much for filling in the last name of J.L. Hatfield. I know this took some time. I did not know that I could do a SSDI search by DOD.

Mary Crader #15125246
I changed Mary's birthdate as you suggested (my mistake) but I don't understand how my memorial which I added on August 2, 2006 is a duplicate to one that wasn't added until August 26, 2011. Wouldn't that make the other one the duplicate?

Stark from Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg
Hi Pat H,
Thanks for sharing your research. I'm very interested in Christian Samuel Stark, b. 20 Jul 1792. Could you tell me how you know he was from Ludwigsburg?

I'm trying to unlock the will of Christina Shaffer, the widow of John Shaffer. She left a will dated 3 Feb 1830, rec. in York Co., PA 23 Jun 1830 (Q:282). Some household items and half of her estate to Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Beitzel (relationship not specified, but she gave TLC during illness); quarter to nephew Christian Stark of Philadelphia, quarter to nephew Christian Pfehler of York. Friend John Kraber exor. Wit. Henry Heintz, D.D. Dunn.

I think very likely the nephew is Christian Samuel Stark, b. 1792. The amazing coincidence, is that "Biographical annals of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania" (Chicago: J.H. Beers & Co., 1903), page 1192, shows that the other nephew, Christian [Gottlieb] Pfahler was. b. abt 1786 in Ludwigsburg! 1860 census in York for him shows 74-Württemberg.

Elizabeth, wife of Benjamin Beitzel, was the daughter of Adam & Christina Kraber, b. 28 Mar 1780. They resided in York.

The will of John Shaffer, 21 Nov 1789, rec. in York Co., PA 02 Aug 1790 (H:147), leaves household items, real estate, and York townhouse to widow Christina during her widowhood; after her death to siblings: two brothers Peter & Jacob Shafer; two sisters Barbara m. Henry Gunkel, Magdalena m. John Lefever. No children mentioned. Exor wife Christina, friend Michael Daudel. Wit. Adam Kreber, John Doll.

There's a York Co. will of a Christopher Oberlin, 1 Jan 1808, rec. 20 Jul 1811 (M:336) that mentions daughter Christina m. John Sheaffer, among the heirs. That might be her.

Can you help with the Ludwigsburg connection? Any idea which parent of Christian Stark is Christina's sibling? Any Pfahler connection that you know of?

Many Thanks,
John Freed
