RE: Helena Slade
I am terrible at giving directions but I will try. (My husband actually drove). Take 49 North and get off on Hwy 13 and go towards Lumberton. I don't know exactly how many miles, but it's past Carnes. I think probably about 3 or 4 miles before you get to Lumberton. There is a road named Ed Reid road, will be on the right. You will drive past a cemetery next to the road on the right. That is Young cemetery. The road you are looking for is on the left. It is locked with a gate. You will have to go to the hunting club there and see if someone will take you in there and show it to you. It will be hard to find by yourself. I tried to make the GPS coordinates as close as I could on the site map, but at that time I did not have a smart phone or a GPS so I was pretty much guessing. The cemetery was not kept up when we went and looked really bad. I took photos of all of the markers that were there, but there are some stobs marking other graves. I got the other info from family history sites indicating that the people were buried there. These are my husband's people (Hezekiah was his 4th great grandfather i think) or we probably would not have went through all of the trouble trying to find it.
Good luck! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
I saw where you are a forensic psychology major. I am currently a History major but I am thinking of adding Psychology as a double major. Would love to be a forensic psychologist but didn't see where any schools in MS offered that particular degree. Which school do you attend?

Helena Slade
Hi,
I saw where you volunteered to photograph the headstone for Helena & Hezekiah Slade at the Hezekiah Slade cemetery. There is no marker for Helena, and the only marker for Hezekiah is the one on the memorial. There are several graves which are marked only with stobs and the cemetery is hard to access as you have to get permission from the hunting club.
I surveyed it about a year or so ago. I just didn't want you to waste your time out there looking for the markers.
Thanks
Donna

Thank you for getting these pictures for me.. :) I don't know what to say about Sarah Arrington's grave.. her name appears on a transcription of this cemetery, so I have to imagine she had a headstone at somepoint. I would think that she would be buried close to these Leggetts. Thank you for all of your help.. :)

Niemeyers!
I forgot to thank you for all of the Niemeyer photos you took at Our Lady of Perpetual Help!!! I had saved the emails in my SAVE folder so I would remember to send a thank you. I found them when I was cleaning out the folder today (maybe I need to do that more often!). This isn't the first time you have taken photos for me and I really appreciate it. I only get to Mississippi about every 4 or 5 years.

Hugs...
Michele
