I live in Mesquite, Texas and have one son still at home...and, am a Grandma, twice, thanks to my daughter. I am married and have a dog, a cat, and some fish.|
Mine is probably not that unusual a story, filling-in my husband's family (Newman, Thornhill, Vineyard, Lawrence, Vaughan, mostly) and also for my natural parents, whom I met at the age of 26 (Smith, Kuykendall, Ward, Shipman, Carr, Priddy & Rogers). I was adopted and, besides becoming a complete freak over this stuff, I'd like to know more medical history and why and how people passed. There have been some truly interesting stories. It is an invaluable experience, even when reading about people who are not related!
If you'd like corrections / editions to any of memorials I manage, I'm "good" with either method of requests - doesn't matter to me...just need the name of the person and the memorial #, and I'd like some type of supporting documentation, if possible, that I can add to the memorial. That way, I won't lose my mind and forget where the information came from! :) Or, use the edit tab...I'm not picky...
Please contact me if I can help anyone out there! I'm happy to help! Besides: It gives me a mission!

Hi. If you look below the photo of the gravestone on the memorial, you will see that it was not taken by me but by someone else who added it. Anyone can unfortunately add a photo on anyone's memorial. You should follow the link to his name and send him a message that the photo is in error and ask him to remove it. Sorry I don't have a photo of the real headstone, but will try and get one next time I am in Eugene.

Nooo problem. Glad to be of help. Corrections processed. HC
|Jean Martin||C. D. Martin #58423554|
I'm Jean Martin. My husband's great-grandfather was Charles Douglas (C.D)Martin). The information you have entered for him is partially incorrect. He was born in 1846 in Tennessee and died in 1900 in Titus County, Texas. He only had one wife, Margaret Rogers--1852-1910. His children were Arthur M.--1877-1928; Bertrum Douglas--1881-1954; Lular--1883-1915; Herman Moose--1884-1967 (my husband's grandfather); Robert Lee--1885-1957;Madie--1897-1911. In checking with family, I found that he never had the nickname "Sope."
There is a Charles Desoto Martin--1873-1953--buried at Spring Hill Cemetery here in Titus County. It is in the Midway Community, a few miles down the road from the Gladewater Cemetery. His number is 64428014. He did have 2 wives but neither was the Newman name you posted. I checked with some friends who remembered him and they stated that he did have the nickname "Sope." They also remembered his two wives. Clarence Hubert, one of his sons, was a Titus County Commissioner at one time.
I hope this information helps you in your investigation of your husband's family.
|Lori||Request for Sarah Snipes edit|
I wanted to let you know that the reason I have never included a maiden name for Sarah (died 1791), wife of William Snipes of Chatham Co., NC, is because her maiden name has never been conclusively proven. Some believe she may have been a Pinckney, and others a Herndon. If you have found recently discovered documented definitively proving her maiden name, please let me know, and I would then be happy to add a proven maiden name. Until that time, though, I believe in only posting information backed up with sufficient documentation.

We are doing pretty good good to hear from you, have a great day.
|Carolyn Pulver Burke||RE: Charles E. Wheeler|
Judith, glad I peeked your interest. My cousin Shirley, contacted the Pierson Township and they said the burial log indicated Charles was buried next to Mary. The Mary Wheeler in Earl Cemetery is not the right one.
As far as transferring the memorial, at the moment I don't know who Mary Helen Pulver Wheeler's grandfather was so I can't determine what branch of the family she was in. Her father was Norman Pulver who pops up in Michigan in the 1850 census. I have done only a preliminary review of all the Pulvers in Michigan and have lots of unlinked people. I will try to get back to Michigan research this year. I will make contact with Pulvers in Michigan and possibly find a descendent of Norman's family.
|Carolyn Pulver Burke||Charles E. Wheeler|
Judith, thanks for all the information. With your info added to mine, I have determined there are several Charles and Mary Wheelers in Michigan. The ones I'm interested in is:
Charles E Wheeler, son of John R Wheeler
Mary Helen Pulver, daughter of Norman Pulver.
Many thanks for the marriage record - I see it has Puloes rather than Pulver but I think it is the right record based on marriage in Alpine.
Charles and Mary had 3 kids - Violet, Ralph and Alta. Ralph married Olive, who you see in the 1920 census.
Charles born 1853, died 1949.
Mary born 1858, died 1928.
Both buried in Pierson Township Cem, Pierson, Montcalm Co, MI.
I am the informal national Pulver family coordinator so if you have questions on the Pulver family, I would be happy to help you out.

Can you tell me if there is a wife for Charles E Wheeler in the cemetery? Her name may be Mary, but not sure. Find A Grave has no entry for her.
|Kelly O'Brian||RE: John Cooley White vs. John Crawford White|
Hi. I think I've got it correct now .... gets a bit confussing. I sent an edit request to the owner of Eddie's memorial to change his father to John Cooley White, and I made the other edits I was able to make. Thanks for catching that, and all the best! Kelly
