Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial, then click on "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". Be sure to give me the other person's ID number when requesting links.|
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to who. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones -
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union -
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-30, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy) -
Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem -
Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave, the photo file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

If you venture back to Fort Snelling, would you mind adding a photo of Amanda Doty's headstone? She was my very dear cousin and I don't have the heart to go there to see it in person. Thank you.
Donna Doty was her grandmother who raised her and I'm glad at least they are together again in Fort Snelling.

Your James S. Fowler's (#19518686) daughter Hannah Ann Fowler married John Thomas Andrews my 1st cousin 3 times removed. His grandfather Silas Andrews #77542061) is my 3rd great grandfather. Small world isn't it?

I think these two are the same. Emma E is listed on her parents tombstone and Elizabeth Witt Bilby is on another. When looking at the "Bilby" photo it could be seen as both Thomas'.
Thomas L. Bilby
Thomas E. Beery
I can't see it clearly enough to tell. Did anyone do a rubbing?
The research I did on Caleb's 1830 census shows 2 males under 5. no females. 1840 show 2 males and 2 females : Emma E.1836 and Mary Eliza 1/1840.
It's interesting that an Ancestry.com search shows that both girls died in 4/1858. In addition the parents were married August 12, 1827. E. Witt Bilby was born in 1826. Could the '2' on the Bilby/Berry tombstone also be read as a '3' and the '4' as a 5?
THIS MAY ACTUALLY BE EMMA ELIZABETH BERRY! HELP!!

Dear Marc, I see you've established a find-a-grave listing for my brother Carl. Would you please consider transferring management to me at jrburdin01 (#48429520) ?
|Sarah Morse||Doty Family|
You posted Doty family members buried Evergreens Cemetery (Brooklyn NY).
Did you enter info from burial cards? If you entered tombstone info, did you post all Doty family members?
Elizabeth Doty (1824-1895) I believe was married to Benjamin Doty (1823-1901) but you do not have an entry for him.
Looking for info on the parents of Benjamin Doty

Would you please add Beulah Shirley as a child of Benjamin? The link to her grave is:

Warm regards once again. In looking at my notes, it appears that you helped me with my first efforts at linking family. I am still trying to memorialize and link my ancestors, particularly at this time the Schalk and Niederman families from Butler County, Ohio. It is very satisfying to connect the family members and perhaps make research for others easier.
I sent a previous message but it appears that you have not read it yet. You have always been very quick in your responses to me. Thus I am sending this message.
Towards that end I would appreciate having management of Mary Margaret Niederman (104969092) and her parents, John Schalk (72968737) and Anna Barbara Schorr Schalk (72968839). They are my direct ancestors. I descend from their daughter Mary Elizabeth Niederman Schwenn Schwab whose memorial I just updated.
I appreciate all you have done to help me and am hopeful you can help with this request.
