It was through Find A Grave that I located my paternal Great-Grandparents and GG-Grandparents grave sites in Texas in early 2010. That led me to entering Memorials for our local cemeteries in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Not for the "count" but to assist others in finding the graves of their relatives and ancestors.

Ancestry should be freely shared with others. If I have created a Memorial for one of your relatives or ancestors, even "several times removed", unless they are also related to me I will be happy to transfer the Memorial to you. Please use the "edit" button and include your Contributor number.

My photos of gravestones may be used for your personal use and family trees like and MyHeritage, etc. but not used for commercial purposes.

Joseph H Elliott #54847798
I was wondering where the information on his wife and home listed on this memorial came from? I am looking for my great great grandfather and his name is Joseph H Elliott. His wife was Mattie and he was a conductor. They married in Tennessee but lived in Virginia for most of their lives. Are there any more Elliotts buried around him? Is there a picture of his gravestone? Do you know if there is an office I can contact to see if there is more information on him so I can determine whether this is who I am looking for? Thank you in advance for your time!

RE: Nellie Mae Woodring Starbuck
I think her husband was Mathew/Matthew Clinton Starbuck, son of Charles and Mary Starbuck. He died in March 1972 but I didn't find his obit yesterday in Kingsport Times. He was married second to Lorena Carrier Thompson. Hopefully I can find her obit today. Both may be in the Bristol paper. I haven't looked yet. I did find a baby that list M.C. and Nellie as parents. I added him yesterday. He was stillborn ): I found some more of Charles and Mary's children yesterday too.

RE: Leonidas Bachelder
I am going to recheck the next time I am at the cemetery. I wasn't sure when I was there if he was on the east or west side of the lot. I took 3 pics from different angles, but I want to go back now that I know he is in 3 West. Should be behind the stones pictures but it looks like there are stones in all those spots....just will take a second look and if I can get a better picture I will replace the one I posted.

Re: Snow Creek UMC
Ms. King,

The church is actually located in Statesville, not Harmony, NC and the "address" I have seen on the internet does not map correctly to the physical location of the church (might be address of parsonage, which sometimes is used as mailing address for small, rural churches). Fortunately, the church sign (and cemetery surrounded by stone wall) is highly visible from Snow Creek Rd.

You get to the west end of Snow Creek Rd by turning off NC Highway 115 (Wilkesboro Highway) or the east end by turning off of Jennings Rd. The church is slightly closer to the Highway 115 end of Snow Creek Rd. If you are coming from that end, you go about 1 and 1/2 miles down Snow Creek Rd. and will see (gated) Victory Farm Drive on your right. The next right will be the driveway to the church (will see lovely white church sign at side of road also on your right). If you come from the Jennings Rd. side you will pass N. Chipley Ford Rd. on your right after traveling about 2 miles down Snow Creek Rd. About 1000 feet after passing N. Chipley Ford Rd., you will see Snow Creek UMC church sign on the left side of Snow Creek Rd. after seeing cemetery wall and church on left side of road, too.

The GPS coordinates given on findagrave are 35.91020, Longitude: -80.91940. These map to the correct area on Snow Creek Rd.

It is a lovely little church and cemetery with several Revolutionary War participants buried there. My great grandmother Mary Treadway Moore was buried there, but her grave is not marked. I hope to place a headstone on her grave in the near future.

Good Luck,
