20 Apr 2015 - I am currently working on uploading photos for Rose Hill Memorial Gardens

I have logged about 38+ hours in Rose Hill and Mount Carmel.

Rose Hill Memorial Gardens
As of: 20 Apr 2015
1627 - names I've entered
3461 - total for Rose Hill

I have taken some of the Rose Hill names from the 1930's W.P.A. Cemetery Registration Project, and from the county cemetery books. If you find any mistakes, let me know so that I can fix them.

A word of explanation on the names I have entered for Rose Hill.

A lot of my new memorials I created were taken from the Harrison County Iowa cemetery book index. I matched the cemetery book index against the names already on Findagrave, and then entered memorials for those not already on Findagrave. The cemetery book index had no dates, so I just entered the names. I will add the birth and death dates as I upload the gravestone photos.

During the summer and fall of 2014, I took over 2000 photos for Rose Hill. I photographed about 1/3 of the cemetery, and have already begun uploading those photos. Quite a few have already been done, but the rest will be done here soon.

I should be finished with Rose Hill by the end of April or May. Things are going slower than I anticipated because I have way too many other things I have started working on. I have kind of put the Rose Hill stuff on hold, but will get back to it some time soon.

I apologize for there being no dates on a lot of the memorials, but that will be fixed over the next month or so. Please be patient with me on this.

If you see a memorial that has no dates or photo, and would like that done now; write and let me know. I will upload it immediately per your request.

Thanks for all that you've provided. I now have her linked to her parents and son.

RE: Oak Grove photos
Thank you again for the transfer of Raymond Johnson--I help with Washington County Recycling, and somebody recycled a 2005 newspaper, so I am (slowly) going through the obits. We don't have older pictures of that cemetery--we only got started with FindaGrave a couple of years ago. Thank you for double-checking your records for better photos. Anymore when we take photos we take an area shot as well as a close-up. There are two of us, so with the sun, I usually am shading the camera to help my husband MrB. FindaGrave has increased the number of pixels so that the photos really can be of better quality, and yes, as you say, the cameras themselves are much better. On our first foray into FindaGrave (we wanted to help our son find his grandfather's grave in another state), we saw that a stranger had taken a photo, including an area shot so the grave itself would be easier to find, and had put a flower by the grave. That touched our hearts, so that is what we do too. If you would ever like me to transfer a memorial to you, please ask. I am marking you as "friend" by the way.

Raymond "Red" Johnson transfer and new photo
Thank you so much for both the transfer and the photo. I saw that you had taken the original photo back in 2013, but you must have gone back to your files--this is a much clearer and better one!
