I have been researching since 1977 and I know how finding that one grave can make a real difference. I now live in Simi Valley, California and do volunteer photos in the Los Angeles area. I would gladly transfer memorials within Find A Grave guidelines. I will be honored to add your information to Civil War soldier memorials, but I am not transferring them because you are collecting Iowa soliders. Please do not hesitate to send me additional information and correct any errors you find in my memorials. I want the memorials as correct and complete as possible. I try to do my corrections and links within a few days of getting your message.|
Please do not leave corrections, biography information OR reference information in the memorial flower area. It is not acceptable. I will add that to the memorial.

Thank you so much for the photo of where Frank Webster is. :)

Sometimes, in those days the smaller towns didn't have anyone to marry them. There would be a traveling preacher who would come in whenever he could. once every year or two. He'd baptize the babies and marry the couples at the same time. They would have a big to-do when he go there, with a "revival" and basket dinners, etc. I remember my mother-in-law telling me about that.
And, babies having the same name... that name meant something to the couple. If one died and it didn't really matter how old it was, and another was born, many times it took the same name. heck, it still happens. A friend of mine named her baby Doug. He drowned when he was 9. She then adopted a baby and named him Doug as well. Crazy.
So you used to live in Putnam county. I was wondering how you had so much information and lived so far away. I'm in Kansas City and am able to get library books from the big genealogical library in Independence. Some cannot be checked out and I go there periodically and spend the day with my computer there. I know they will UPS or mail out books if you cannot get there, but my small little library branch can get them for me so I don't have to go all the way to Independence.
You don't have anything available like that?
Tell me the names and places, etc., and I'll see if the library has something that might help.
p.s. I deleted Hannah Cassady. DARN I wish people would stick to one way of spelling things. Those Howsers also spell it Housers and Hausers. !!!

no, I sure don't, Elsetta. I have checked out books on Putnam county cemeteries, and I have a book from the Comstock Funeral home, but not 1 Howser is in that. Have you checked the Mo. death certificate site, or are they older than 1910?
The only person I know that might have some info would be Larry VanDyke. Possibly Harvey Pearson. Those 2 are out and about quite abit and Larry's sister has some books on things you might be interested in. Other than that, censuses would be the only other thing that might help. Sorry.
I'd be happy to help you look up people if you'd like.
Thanks for you contribution to the post. I have a copy of his newspaper obit in my files, but haven't been able to place my hands on it yet. Will add details when it turns up. PM

I noticed you have a memorial for my great great grandmother Susan Jordan White (memorial #120609603). Are you a descendant from Henry Clay and Susan Jordan White as well? If so, do you know anything about Clay Whites death?
I hope this finds you well.
Thanks a lot!!
Have a blessed day,

I hope you find those pages you're looking for! I know how frustrating that must be. My favorite trick is to put things in a "better" place, and then not remember that place...Keep me in mind when you find info on the Clarks - they were my grandmother's family, and because of the name, it's a little difficult finding them. I only found Anna Clara about a year and a half ago!
Good luck, and have a very nice weekend!

Isn't that funny! I've seen it with other widower's too! I might see if my sister in-law in Omaha could get over and visit Walnut Hill. Do you have another memorial besides this one? http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=bachelor&GSiman=1&GScid=96591&GRid=93905450&
Thanks! Have a great weekend!

I thought you might want to check out a memorial that I found in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Appaloosa Co. IA. It is #71147924. It also has a picture. Thanks, Helen
