Like a lot of members I started with FindaGrave looking for my ancestors to preserve memories for future generations. I cannot begin to tell you how Thankful I am for all the wonderful people that went out of their way to help me in fulfilling my quest. So I wanted to pay it forward and I found the best way I could do that is to work with veterans and their families. They have sacrificed so much to preserve our freedom and as a spouse of a NAVY veteran this is the least I could do. Since then I have been working with a wonderful group of volunteers adding and editing veteran memorials to the National Cemeteries.

Currently I am working on Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery checking and cross checking every name for errors and or duplicates and sending requests for corrections when needed.
Creating Memorials: When I add a memorial with a known burial location I do not check the whole website to see if one had been made, only the cemetery it was located in. So please do not move a Burial Unknown Memorial into a cemetery where a memorial has already been placed and tell me I have to remove my "duplicated" memorial. FaG guidelines clearly states a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location. Their standard guidelines give you 30 days to find your burial location on an unknown memorial.

Suggestions & Corrections: Please make sure your Memorial # is listed along with an explanation. If your correspondence is RUDE in any way, it will be ignored. This site was created to help others, not to criticize, harass or bully. Be kind to your fellow volunteers, since we are all trying to achieve the same goal of helping others on the amazing website as the Guidelines state Have Patience it will get done.

Transfers: I have had many contributors asking to have the same memorial transferred to them. We cannot please everyone so I am only adhering to the four generation rule (siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren). As the guidelines state the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it. A wonderful way to gather all your ancestors together and achieve that goal is by setting up virtual a cemetery.

I will not transfer bulk surname requests. No exceptions so please do not ask.

If you do not want the memorial transferred but have accurate information to add, I will be more than happy to add it and credit you with the information.

I don't always send a thank you so I would like to give a SINCERE "Thank You" to all the contributors and photographers for all that you have done for me and for FindaGrave. It really means a lot.

Happy Hunting!

Not planning on getting sick - I always go a couple times a week and didn't want you to think I was sluffing off. LOL Got the photo requests and 28 of your VC (I had two of them already) and will head out tomorrow to get them done.

We're going to be hit with some serious heat starting Thursday, going tomorrow to Rosecrans to do the claims I have. I'll check you VC before I go. Should cool by Tuesday or Wednesday and I'll do what's left in your VC then =]

RE: R D Armstrong
Thanks Cindy. You are absolutely right, I am brand new and didnt realize the guidelines. I only noticed the other entry in both cases had more info so I figured it was normally best for the ones with less info to be deleted. I didnt notice the others were newer and didnt know that transferring was an option either.
Apologies and all the best,

RE: Col John Andrews
Hello Cindy, Yes, Col. John is my 4th great-grandfather and if you are willing I would love to have you transfer his memorial to me. Thanks so much for creating it.

Tanks ever so much. He was my grandparent's youngest child. I remember him fondly.

LTC Grace Eddins Memorial 11079917
Thank you for your very prompt approval of my Edit Request to Link Lt. Col. Grace Truman Eddins to her father, and therefore to her siblings.

I thought I had included her mother's Memorial number in my request but it somehow got omitted. I will send you an Edit Request for that now. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Very proud of my father's cousin Grace, who served during both WW II and the Korean War.
