25 Aug 2016 - If you are interested in managing (some of) the memorials I have in Iowa, get in touch with me. I no longer have the time to take care of them properly, so will be transferring them to interested people--or to Findagrave's care. There are some I want to keep, but I will transfer the rest of them to anyone willing to maintain them.

What I Am Currently Working On

25 Aug 2016 - I am currently working on photos for the White Cemetery that I took in August 2016.

I am also doing a general cleanup and restoration of fallen stones in the cemetery.

Take a look at this to see the condition of some of the stones in the cemetery.

David Lewis Hibbs

and this one too...

Sarah M. Stephens

These are all of the stones that I have Dug Up at White Cemetery.

As of 25 Aug 2016, I have visited this cemetery 9 times and have spent about 28+ hours doing work there.

White Cemetery at
Cincinnati, Appanoose County, Iowa

55 name(s) I've entered
124 total for White Cemetery

There are still 4 FindaGrave memorials with no photo. When I started on 3 August, there were 27 that needed photos.

Chris Ellis Newell
Hi Ron, I just submitted a name change for Chris Ellis Newell to be changed to Chism Ellis Newell. I was having a hard time finding him and his family in the census's so I called an Aunt who told me that his name was Chas or Chis. When I started looking for Chis, I finally found Chism Ellis Newell. She said that she thought they called him Chis. He is listed in the 1860 Census for Center Creek Township, Jasper, Missouri, United States as Chism - 5y. In 1870 census for Green Twp, Wapello, IA, as Chism 15y, in 1880 census for Cincinatti, Harrison, Iowa his name was extracted as Chas but if you look at the record it is Chis, with a dot on the i. Looking at the marker that you cleaned up so nicely, and knowing what to look for, I think it says Chis E Newell. Hope that you agree. Thanks for considering this. Barb Lewis

RE: Lewis Ley at Rose Hill
that is very kind of you, but I don't believe I am related, so I will leave him in your care.

Ron, That's kind of you to offer the transfers. Do you want me to request each one individually?

Thanks, Mary

RE: Rose Hill transfers
Thank you for the follow-up! I do understand about the many memorials--but yes, I want as many as you are willing to transfer.

Thank you for helping me know about how the City of Missouri Valley works. I think I will take a personal scanner with me when I go. I am not up to digitizing all their records, for free or for pay, but maybe they will give me access to scan things.

At least I can add plots to memorials that way, and hopefully they also have a small enough map that I can find some graves within Rose Hill if I have a plot. That map I may be able to add to the cemetery description of Rose Hill, so that other folks can find graves there, too.

continuing transfers--THANK YOU!
I really appreciate these--as I slowly go through them, I make notes on them as I go, but you have done a wonderful job on seeing dates, and making connections. Last night I spoke with MrB, who does our photography, sizing and entering into his computer, then transferring via flash drive to my laptop. He said if he had to do massive amounts of re-sizing, he would get pretty tired, too, and it wouldn't be much fun anymore. I also appreciate your notes from the WPA. I see you have plot numbers on some but not on others. Are the plots from the WPA, or from other sources? I know that the City Hall in Mo Valley does have the cem records, and one fine day we will make a trip to City Hall, but any other sources would be valued too. There have been some people sending Edits, and I am more than happy to double-check things, and usually find a bit more about that particular memorial, thanks to the direction their edits give me to the National Archives. Again, thank you for continuing to transfer these memorials. It makes me even more willing to transfer memorials I have created to those who ask.
