|Bio and Links|
I was so pleased when I found the "Find a Grave" site, which has given the opportunity to list members of the Akin Family and their brief bios with burial locations. I wish to recognize the hard work of Lois Akin Schultz, Daphne M. Brownell, Robert Lawrence Akin, Donna Wendt, and Karen Kelly for gathering, researching, photographing, and making available the majority of the information I used on the Akin memorials. My hope is that family members of persons I have recorded will feel free to contact me with missing information, corrections, and to add their own photographs to the memorials.If I have listed one of your family members and you wish to take over the page let me know. |
Terry passed away on 2 May 2011 but I (Heidi)will continue to maintain his site and any request. Just use the edit tab on the memorial to send messages at his email address on file for any changes you want.

|keith nelson||Benjamin Sheldon|
Saw you had extensive information on the Sheldons in Essex County, NY.
I am trying to locate the parents of Benjamin Sheldon (1823-1859).
Would you have any leads for me?
|Betty||RE: Virginia D. Akin Williams|
Please note that I am NOT managing this memorial. I was merely pointing out that the first two lines list Birth as "Unknown", then Death as Jan. 31, 1916. The third line states that Virginia D. Akin Williams Born Jan 31, 1916.
Something is obviously incorrect.

To the family of Terry Akin,
I am saddened to hear of the passing of Terry Akin. Terry was entering the Chase and Barrett family members, I am related to the Barrett Family. She transferred my Barrett family members over to me, I was so grateful. She will be missed dearly from all of us in the genealogy world and her family. Jim Murray, Bklyn Heights, NY
|Terry Foenander||RE: Patrick H. Connorton|
Terry, I am doing major research on the personnel of the Confederate States Navy, so I thought you may want the additional data on Connerton. Sorry to hear of your loss, and I hope I may have been helpful in showing some data on your late husband's FIND A GRAVE entry.
|Terry Foenander||Patrick H. Connorton|
I have the following data on Confederate soldier and sailor, Connerton, with source notes shown:
Patrick H. Connerton (surname also shown as Connorton), born Virginia, November, 1843; son of Martin and Margaret Connerton; resided with his parents, in 1850, at Amelia County, Virginia; enlisted at Hampton, Virginia, May 14, 1861, and served as private, company E, 32nd Virginia Infantry; discharged from the Army in January, 1862, by order of the Secretary of War; later served as ordinary seaman on the side-wheeled steamer CSS Jamestown, James River Squadron, 1862; rated quartermaster on January 1, 1862, but disrated to seaman on April 24, 1862; deserted from the vessel on June 11, 1862; married about 1864; resided as a sailor, in 1900, with his wife Matilda, and son Charles, at Lee district, Accomack County, Virginia. [ORN 2, 1, 290; Compiled Military Service Records; 1850 U.S. Census; 1900 U.S. Census; Confederate Navy subject file N - Personnel; NA – Complements, rolls, lists of persons, etc.; CSS Alabama – CSS Neuse, pages 312 and 947; Confederate Navy subject file N - Personnel; NZ – Desertions and straggling, Miscellaneous, page 442.]
Hope it helps.
