I lived in Texas until the death of my husband in Jan 2013. I now reside in Arizona with my oldest daughter.|
I was born in Oregon just before WW II ended the daughter of Ray Culbertson Patch and Mary Elizabeth Cragle, but grew up in Iowa where my father was born and raised; and where I met and married my military husband.
We've lived in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia, Germany, Colorado, Louisiana, Italy, Arizona and now Texas for the last 25 years.
I do my research on-line.
I am the mother of four and grandmother of six.
Two of my children were born in Heidelberg, Germany near where some of their ancestors lived - discovered years later when I was researching.
One daughter was born in Piza, Italy and the last in Texas to become a 7th generation Texan.
My husband's main lines are Lanum, Nall, Schroegler, and Short among others.
Mine are Andreas, Cragle, Culbertson, Hawkins, Mull, Patch, Toothaker, Washburn and others too numerous to mention.
My line goes back through my mother to the Mayflower and royalty in England and France.
I tried to get my daughter-in-law to genuflect whenever I entered or left a room. All I got from the effort was laughter and a headache.
I mention this so you know I don't take myself too seriously.
The genealogical world is shrinking everyday.
A few years ago my son visted us arriving from Maine with his wife, children and a guest who was a schoolmate of his son. When our guest left it was as a 9th cousin to my grandson. My youngest daughter returned with her brother to the small town in Maine (pop abt 1500). She was there abt 18 months and acquired a job at the local quick mart. The owner turned out to be a distant cousin connecting to one of our Mayflower ancestors. So that was two familes - not related to each other - related to my daughter, son, grandchildren and myself in that small town in Maine. What are the odds?
I love the Internet.
I am very appreciative of findagrave and have watched its phenomenal growth over the years.

I added the name and links to her parents, but wasn't sure about what the rest meant so I am sending the info back to you and transfered Altas memorial to you so you can add the rest.
I made some guesses at what some of it meant but wasnt sure anyone esle would understand it either. If you add it, please fill it in so others understand.
Thank you for the information. I always want the memorials to be as full as possible for the next generations to come to know who their relatives were. Sorry there isnt anything on her other than dates. I hope you csn fill in more.

are you kin and what does 1C1R mean ????

Thanks so much for the obits on her and her husband. I always like to have obits when possible. I should write you by email, but my email program is down right now.
Mentioning the fact that you are descended from Mayflower passengers, check out famouskin.com. Even though I didn't have a Mayflower ancestor, I had ancestry in other royalty line and was able to connect to 94 famous people on that site!!! Let me know how many you find.

Memorial is updated to reflect that it may be a cenotaph.
|Bruce Hicks||Howard Raymond Short|
I made the links and additions you suggested to Howard's memorial page. I am no relation to Howard and would be happy to transfer him to you; Just let me know.
Actually, it was from her husband's obit. Her death date of 1873 is too early for any newspaper microfilm in existence here in the county.
