I have been in the curious position of being an American in Australia since 1989. I have a great love for both countries. My accent is a weird mixture of both. I remain a Yank in Oz and an Aussie in the US. At least it's a great conversation starter! |
I am married to an interesting and hard-working man, and we have two gorgeous children.
My vocation is education, teaching English to adult migrants and refugees. I get tremendous satisfaction from my work.
My passion is genealogy. I have been researching since 1983, a time when I had to duck secretively into the National Archives in case any of my friends saw me. The stories that I have uncovered, although not all happy ones, have inspired me and made me proud to be connected to the people who have come before me.
I am thrilled to have discovered Find a Grave, as it allows me to memorialise my loved ones and document the lives of other family members for posterity.
I am a strong believer that ordinary people live extraordinary lives. They are far more interesting to me than celebrities.
I have been very moved by the many stories that I have read on here. I enjoy reading a well-written and loving biography, and I admire people for being such a positive influence on those left behind.
Please take the time to check out a few of my loved ones, and flower them if their tales strike a chord. I will try to reciprocate.
I would love to make contact with any relatives of the individuals I have posted here, and I would be more than happy to transfer memorial administration to family members or friends. Please email me to facilitate this.

Hi there Mary Jo.. I live here in Piscataway, NJ and have since I was a child..The Runyon family owned all of the property that now is where all the homes and major roads are today where I live..My mom and dad bought a new house here in 1954 and their address is Runyon Avenue after the Runyon family..The graveyard is still here off of Centennial Ave/Possumtown Road, and I go past it so often..Boy Scouts tend to this tiny graveyard..The Runyon farm house was raised so they could build industrial in there in 1971 but there is a picture of the house where it use to sit that is in a book I have by Walter Meuly "THE HISTORY OF PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP 1666-1976" Mr. Meuly took the picture of the house in 1964.. Vincent did live there. This book also has a picture of "Mary Runyon's Grave Stone" and Mr. Meuly printed out the inscription under the picture of the headstone since it's in black and white and not easily readable in the book. It states "In Memory of Mary Runyon widow of Vincent Runyon who Departed this Life Febry ye 2d 1737 In the 87 year> added by Mr. Meuly> (of her age) (born in 1650, she is the earliest person whose grave still exists. Vincent died in 1713) I plan on visiting the Graveyard to see if the headstone in still in tact. Been almost 40 yrs since Mr. Meuly published this book so maybe not. But in that case, I could try to take a photo of it in the book and then put it on here if that would be acceptable to you Mary Jo. I am related to the Stele family thru my Dad's family and they were early settlers of Piscataway as well as Mr. Runyon and several others..Very historic here..So, thought I would contact you with my info and see if you'd like me to try to post pictures..Look forward to hearing from you..Sincerely, Joanie Ely Sundelof
Hi Mary Jo...
I wondered if you had any success in fining more to add to Johannah/Joanna "Hannah" Kerrich's bio - I have done extensive research on her 2nd husband, John Whitmore, but find little data on her.
Cheers~ Shirleen (history4sure)

Hi Mary Jo,
Thank you for creating the memorial for Julia Ann Fleming Breiner. She is my g-g-g grandmother. I would honored to take over her memorial from you if someone hasn't requested to do so already.

Hi Mary Jo,
Thank you so much for creating Lydia's memorial. I also appreciate your help. I still have a lot to learn :) There is one more siblings memorial I'm trying to get transferred - Carrie Good #70560003.
I am not related to the Bair side of family so I will pass on your offer at this time Mary Jo but there are some Bair family members floating around Ancestry.com. I'll reach out to see if they would be interested. Thank you again.

Thanks very much for your speedy reply. They are also very distant from me--I've only just discovered them! Thanks anyway, but I think I should leave them with you, at least for now. Gwen

Hello Mary Jo,
May I please have your permission to use your photo of the gravestone for Norbert J Cifelli and Susanna Jane Cifelli, Holcombe Riverview Cemetery, on my ancestry.com family tree, with attribution to you an to Find a Grave. Thank you very much for your consideration. Gwen
|Rhonda Scott||RE: TY|
I also sent edits through the edit tab, which will fill in the rest of the information for Samuel Holcombe. If you approve them, you'll get the rest of the info. Thanks for your feedback. I'm happy to hear your comments. Rhonda
|JM||Lydia Amy Bair|
Hi Mary Jo,
I have recently taken over a memorial for Lydia A. Bair's father, Jacob Max Good - Memorial #29399379.
Was trying to figure out how to connect to Lydia's memorial but it seems I can't find those instructions. So what I've done is include her memorial number with her info on her father's memorial for now. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks!!
