Welcome - |
We are doing a holy service by remembering the dead, and preserving history.
I think we all have a piece of the puzzle and if everyone contributes, questions will be answered.
This a wonderful site for remembering people. Peoples lives are fascinating and they deserve to be remembered and documented.
Please remember we are not just entering names or stones, but real people. Please ask yourself if your memorial is search-able. All memorials should have last names. Women who never marry, and children don't have maiden names. There is no maiden name unless the name changes. Also please do not use ().
Please do NOT create duplicates.
If you notice any mistakes, please let me know, and I will be happy to fix them. Nobody is perfect, we are all fallible human beings mostly doing the best we can at the moment.
We are merely stewards of 'our' memorials - we manage them and are entrusted with their care and maintenance, but we do not technically 'own' them.
Please read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Thanks, and please try to resolved unknown burials ASAP.
Please free to use any of my photos with appropriate citations. Will also add updates, -the more info, the better. I don't have a policy about transfers - ask and we can work it out.
"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." (author unknown)

Thank you for William's memorial. I appreciate your generosity!

Hi Donna, Not sure if my first message went through, so please excuse if you get this twice. Clarence and his Mom look good. Yes, the maiden name was Rockwell. I've sent you some more updates. Thanks very much. Chris

If it's ok with you, I'd love to have the request out there. I have photographed every single headstone, but there were several that were illegible, so quite possibly I have it and just don't know it. Also, I know the pastor of that church, and perhaps they can look at cemetery records.
|Ada Green||RE: Mufson.|
Mrs. Mufson appears to be a duplicate of your entry Itta Leah Mufson at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Mufson&GSiman=1&GScid=65295&GRid=99835315& who died on 23 Kislev 5688 (17 Dec 1927) and was the widow of Benjamin Mufson. I realize that you have a 1928 year of death for Mrs. Mufson, but perhaps her newspaper death notice/obituary was published in Jan. 1928. Itta Leah Mufson died in New Haven, CT. Perhaps back in those days it took several weeks for news of her death to reach the Kingston paper.

Thanks for the photo. I was wondering if she was buried with George! Ella was his first wife.
My family was very close to George's daughter, Ruth. She was married to a cousin. Thanks again!

Yes, you can switch this to me. I work intermittently on find-a-grave but I have found several (many?) others from this area (Brookville, etc.) that I would also like you to switch. Namely Voorhest, Voorhis, Van Voorhis so as I get to them I'll send a message to you! Thanks so much for your help! ~Ed

I hope you are right. So far, they say it will remain free.
Excerpt:Will Ancestry.com Turn Find A Grave Into a Pay or Subscription Site?
Usually, reading comprehension is a valued and available skill for genealogists. But when emotions take over, as in the case of Ancestry.com purchasing another company or site in the industry, genealogists forget about those reading skills. From Ancestry CEO Tim Sullivan in the press release:
“We will maintain Find A Grave as a free website, will retain its existing policies and mode of operation, and look forward to working with Jim Tipton and the entire Find A Grave team to accelerate the development of tools designed to make it even easier for the Find A Grave community to fulfill its original mission to capture every tombstone on Earth.”

Its on the Fritts Association website, under photos.

Find A Grave has become both a Memorial site and a genealogy site. Ancestry.com now owns it as of 2013.
I must agree that is a very good idea. I just hope Ancestry.com doesn't start charging, and it remains a free site for everyone.

Do you have any info about him being a Revolutionary War soldier? The bible mentions it, but I can't find him on any official site of Revolutionary War veterans.
Thanks so much for any info you may have.
