Masonic Emblem
You added a Masonic Emblem to the memorial for Paul Hale. I believe he may be an ancestor but I'm having trouble finding any information about him. Do you have access to Masonic records that show him? You can email me at My father-in-law was 33rd degree. Joined while in Camp Logan, Houston, Texas, during World War I.

RE: Garvin/Cartwright
Jonathan, I was away from home and could not answer your email until now.

I went to Amherst County a few years ago to research my Cartwright family. They didn't seem to have much information. Interesting you found many names in my line you recognized. While in Virginia I researched many places for Cartwright's. After Virginia, I went to Maryland and New Jersey.

Wonderful your first cousin is Deputy Clerk for Amherst County. I recognize the Harvie/Harvey name from an article I found many years ago. I will try and find it. I have added you as a friend on Find A Grave. Thanks for writing!

Thank you for writing. I am a direct descendant of this family. Christian never married before she married Peter Cartwright, Sr. Their son, Rev. Peter Cartwright, always said his mother (Christian) was "an orphan." Her maiden name was Garvin. It is a long story, but she did live with Edmund Wilcox a wealthy Virginia man. I hope I have made some sense to you and I appreciate you taking the time to write! Have a great day......This part of the Cartwright family is very confusing to many!

Thomas Seavy
Hello Mr De Mallie,
You left an emblem at the memorial for Thomas Seavy Find A Grave#60265351. I wondered if you were related to him or his wife, Lillian Peters Seavy Quay. Although I haven't found proof, I believe they might be the parents of Tassie A Seavy who married Forest Deeter and then my relative, Frank Reischman. Tassie was born in 1885 and was on the 1900 census with her grandparents, David and Liddie (Lydia) Seavy who were the parents of Thomas Seavy along with several daughters. I think Tassie was there because Thomas died in 1892 and Lillian remarried to John Quay in 1887. It may be that her grandparents raised her. Do you know anything about this possibility? Thank you.
Best regards,
Barbara Long
