Bio and Links
Bio Photo My most important projects are Hollywood Cemetery & Oakland (Atlanta City) Cemetery in Atlanta.

Thousands of hours have been spent working on Hollywood alone. The cemetery is in terrible condition due to the owner just not caring about those buried there. Much of it has re-forested itself to prolific growth conditions since 1970 when it was once again sold.

I add names to many cemeteries, but mostly work on Oakland and Hollywood. I research the names as if they were my own family, trying to add full names, maiden names, full dates, birth and death places and linking them to family members. I also search for parents when they are buried elsewhere, so they can be linked to them. I knew many of them had to be kin to each other of those buried there.

If I have added your family members (or friends) and they are not mine, I will gladly transfer them to you to maintain. Right now, I am not transferring Hollywood names, as I am still working on it. I will be happy to add anything that you wish to their pages, though.

Note: Unless you use the Edit button to ask for transfers (please do not ask on my bio page), your request will be ignored. Please do it correctly, as it makes your request much easier to fulfill. Also, if you are a member for a few days, do not ask for groups of transfers. The idea is to maintain the pages, not simply gather relatives and then forget about them.

Many we love have passed away too soon.....without reason.

We remember them often in a thousand different ways....In the morning.....in the night, when we look at the stars.....a date....a song.....a place. In memory of all those who left us all too soon. We will get to see you again some day.
-----------

The Story Tellers...We are the Chosen.

My feelings are in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes.
Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do.

In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family - you would be proud of us?

How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say.

It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family.

It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us.
--------------
PLEASE.......when you find your relative's page, leave flowers and at least a short note. In that note, state your relationship to that person. This is a great way to find living members of your family. If you leave nothing, they do not know you are out there somewhere. Leaving this lets them know that you are also kin to them and they will contact you. This is a win, win situation.

Rick Brantley
Brantley Ancestry
My name is Rick Brantley (son of Fred L. Brantley Jr.) This is my first time on the sight and was really impressed with the amount of time and energy you obviously have put in to this. My mother (Mary K. Brantley) passed away July 28th of 2013 and I've become quite a bit more interested in the family tree. I would love to get a Brantley background if you had something handy. Thanks again for all your hard work and hope to hear from you soon.

Larkin Fowler
Sink Fowler
Dear Judy, I was researching my great grandfather, Sinclair Fowler and came across your pictures. As I went through Ida's memorial, I saw your posted a picture of my dad, Larkin Fowler Jr., being held by Ida from 1945. I wanted to ask if you perhaps had anymore pictures of him with Ida and Sink that you could share with me? My dad died in 2006 and I have only one picture of him from his childhood. I would be forever grateful of any others you might have.

All my best, Larkin Fowler

Judy,

You recently added a photo to my great grandmothers information of which I am very grateful for. However it is not legible. Is this a death certificate for her? Would you be so kind to share that copy with me as I would love to have a copy of it for my records?

Thanks so much!

RE: JONATHAN PROCTOR MILNER, Transfer
Thank you, Judy for creating Memorial pages for these MILNERS. None of them are from my limb of the MILNER Family tree; not that I can determine, anyway. Thank you, too, for thinking of me.

Good night,

RE: JONATHAN PROCTOR MILNER, Transfer
Hi Judy,

When you say 'not yet listed' do you mean they do not have a F-a-G Memorial page yet? Will you tell me what their first names are and their DOB and DOD? I will check to see if they are from my MILNER limb of the family tree. In the meantime, I will check on a couple of names of Milners that I do recall lived & died in Atlanta.

Thank you for this info.,

JONATHAN PROCTOR MILNER, Transfer
Hi Judy,

Thank you SO very much for transferring the Memorial page of JONATHAN PROCTOR MILNER to me. I am so pleased to be able to do this for him and other MILNER family descendants who will come across his page during their research.

Thank you also for the dedication you obviously have to this effort.

Regards,
Karen MILNER Freeman
