My family spent many Sunday afternoons visiting our family cemeteries. We would stroll together, sometimes three or four generations at a time, gently touching the stones, whispering greetings, shedding a tear or two, always careful of our steps, sharing memories and legends, passing the stories down from one generation to the next. I always felt like I knew everyone in those cemeteries even though thay had passed away decades, even centuries, before my birth. As children, we would stand before the stone of an ancestor and carefully recite everything we had been told, to the knowing nods or corrections of our elders. I cherish the memories of those Sundays in my adult life. My family no longer lives close enough to each other to stroll through those cemeteries. Find A Grave has allowed me to create virtual family cemeteries that my family can stroll through at any time without the limitations of time or distance. We can't touch the stones or hear the wind in the pines, but we can still whisper a greeting, shed a tear, and remember.|
I will gladly edit or transfer any of the memorials that I have submitted that are not in my direct line.

|Jon Carpenter||Wiley Jones (Baldwin City Cemetery) Kansas|
I see you left a message indicating Wiley Jones was your ggg grandfather. Which one of his children does your line flow through? My Great Uncle Charles married Mary Jones in Baldwin in 1873. His property was situated just north of my Great Grandfather, James E. Carpenter. I decided to take a shot that you might have some interesting information to share and I might have some for you. Here is a link that shows their properties in 1857 and they are just East of Prairie City, Kansas. http://www.kansasmemory.org/item/217187/page/1
Please write back and let me know if we have a connection! Thanks, Jon Carpenter
I was so pleased to see that you had published the information on Corp. Joseph Shields Camden. He is a son of my 2x great-grandfather Benjamin Franklin Camden and grandson of my 3x great grandfather Pvt. George Washington Camden. The Shields is his mother's last name and her parents lived on the farm next door to them in the 1850 census. I was both thrilled and proud to find a soldier who fought at Gettysburg, but sorry to find that he fought for the Confederacy. Still wonderful to find this. Thank you. I have recently found many many relatives from these earlier generations and they come from a reliable source. If you would like email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or text me at 7658601990. Thanking you so much,
Kay Annette Camden Nichols

I believe you are a descendant of William Jones. I recent joined Daughters of 1812 under William Jones. I places a few copies of his War of 1812 on his Find a Grave site. I have a copy of all the papers in his 1812 file, if you are interested.

Hello, I have been asked to research the Camden Cemetery near Hillsboro TN. Saw on Find A Grave that there are 3 graves listed. Do you know if there are others that are not listed? Or do you know any contacts that might could assist in this matter? I am located in Texas and therefore cannot visit it.
P.S. My maternal ancesters are from Coffee County, they were they Chapmans buried in the Womack cemetery.
|Beeswax||RE: Samuel Snowden Cowman|
He was my third great grandmother's younger brother. They were children of Joseph Cowman and Mary Snowden. No need to transfer unless you want. I just wanted to verify when he died. Thanks again!

What child of Benjamin did you descend from? You are a distant cousin. Have you even discovered Benjamin's parents? The Surry County Virginia Marleys migrated to North Carolina around 1790.
