Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been climbing around
on my Family Tree, swinging
on it's branches, and digging
at it's roots for over
30 years, (since 1975).
I have been widowed since 1991, retired in 2005.
I LOVE Find-A-Grave. It is a wonderful
asset to the genealogy world.
If I've created a record that someone
needs to correct, update or add
information, please let me know and
I'll be glad to add your information
for you;... or if the person is your
direct family member, and you would
like to have me transfer "ownership"
of that memorial page to you, please
let me know...If that person is not
directly related to me and they are
directly related to you; I will be
glad to transfer their memorial to
you. However, I want to note:
Nearly all of the memorials that I
have created are connected to my
family tree and are a result of a
lot of years hard work and research.

To all the members who have been
kind enough to transfer "ownership"
of my family members to me....
I THANK YOU!
Find A Grave is one of my favorite
sites.
It has given me a place that I can
remember my loved ones and honor
their memory.

If you have time, please leave a flower
for my dear husband, Roy E. Hughes.

Lauren Sherry
Hi!
I just wanted to say hi because I believe we are related somehow. I am a descendant of Anna Maria Keely and Samuel Kerlin. I'd love it if you could help me fill in some blanks!

James Propps
I have been researching my Propps family tree for a couple of years now. This website has been a great help. James Propps is my Third Great Grand Father and you are correct, he was married to Malinda Propps. I never could figure out who his Father was because in the census records it says that Malinda was widowed. John H. Propps did die in the 1860's but if he is the Father of James Propps and George Propps his twin brother then that would make him mulatto. Do you have definite proof that he is the father? If so that would be a gap that is filled. I do have 23% European DNA. If you can respond back, it would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Fredericka Wittenborn
Hi Mrs. Hughes,

We had a bit of trouble finding the cemetery, and then when we got to it, a large dead tree had fallen over crushing a portion of the surrounding fence and covering Fredericka Wittenborn's headstone. After removing the branches we could move, we swept away the remaining debris and took the photo.

Although it was a challenge, we really enjoy searching out lost cemeteries and documenting them.

Have a terrific day.

Michael David Shoffner - Lowes Memorial Church Cemetery
I had trouble finding this cemetery and finally spoke with a local grave digger by the name of Clyde Scales (336-706-1841). He gave me great directions to this cemetery. Once I found the cemetery, I did try to find this grave, but most of the graves in this small cemetery are marked by a simple stone. I walked the entire area, but did not find any Shoffners or Whartons marked on any of the graves.

There is a church on the property but it only leases the building. I did call the church (Faith Bible Christian Church 336-644-1221) and spoke with a nice lady. She told me her son mows the cemetery, but the church only leases the building. No one at the church has any records for the cemetery. She said she thought the stones that do mark each grave have been put there by the grave diggers.

She gave me the name of a man that she said might have some information or records. I called him and he said he did not know of any Shoffners in this cemetery. He said he does not have any records. He told me a funeral home in High Point, NC might possibly have some records. Mason Frazier is the gentlemen I spoke with. His number is 336-643-1469.

The funeral home he told me about is known as Johnson & Sons Funeral Home. They evidently bought Haven funeral home which, according to Mr. Frazier, may have had some records for this cemetery. Here is a link to their website: http://www.johnsonandsonsinc.com/

I did take some photos of the cemetery and have added them to the site. I assume once these photos are approved, they will appear on Find A Grave.

I'm sorry I couldn't find more information for you. If you find out any more information, I will be glad to go back and take any photos you would like.

The photos of the cemetery are now on Find A Grave.

Margaret Blackwelder and Lewis Krimminger
LoRetta, one of your findagrave entries helped me solve a mystery this weekend. On familysearch.org I found a lawsuit against the administrators of an ancestor's estate. It was full of legalese and difficult to read. Your records and genealogy info helped me understand the suit. My 4th G-gfather Lewis B. Krimminger was named Margaret A. Blackwelder's guardian after her father died in 1857. Margaret died in 1864 and less than two years later Lewis died. The administrators of Lewis' estate included Margaret's estate when they settled his. Margaret's brother and sister had to sue them to get Margaret's portion of their father's estate back. Some of my confusion was because Margaret's mother married her late husband's brother. Your entry for Wilson and Martin Blackwelder helped me understand what I saw in the census records. I'm not sure I why Lewis Krimminger was named Margaret's guardian, not her stepfather Martin Blackwelder. Lewis was once the Sheriff of Cabarrus county but that doesn't quite explain it. I guess I still have a mystery to solve. All the best! Lynn Dawson, Madison, VA
