A people which takes no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendants. Baron, Thomas B. Macaulay 1800-1859 Writer, Whig Politician and British Historian

RE: Joseph Jillson and Betsey King Thank you so much for the lead to the photo. It looks familiar and I added it to my ancestry.com tree. This Sisson lady may have gotten the photo from our Aunt Sandra (Jillson) who has been researching the family for years. She has kindly agreed to do the DNA which will be two generations closer than my husband. We have been frustrated that we can not find the parents of Joseph Jillson etc. Kathy J.
RE: Joseph and Betsey Jillson Thank you for your help. I do not think the Joseph Jillson you noted in Find A Grave is our missing one but I will research further.
Search.org refers to the correct Joseph Jillson but does not offer any additional information, like his birth, death or parents.
Joseph Jillson children located so far: Marie, George, Leonard, Daniel, Alden and Elizabeth. Joseph and Betsey (King) Jillson are not found in the 1850 Census. Alden and Leonard were found in other households of non-relatives. Something like death and/or illness of Joseph or Betsey might explain why.
Alden is the branch from which my husband descends.
Clarine McCormick Clough Hi! I received your message suggesting an addition to Clarine's bio of her parents' information. I just wanted to let you know that I did a little research and found that her mother does have a Find A Grave memorial and I added a link to Clarine's page. Her father does not. I found both parents' death certificates on the Missouri Digital Heritage site which solidifies that I found the correct people. Clarine's page is updated with the information as I know it, if you would like to see it. Thanks!
RE: Jack I. Smith Wow, really interesting. He's my estranged great-grandfather who I've always been eager to learn more about. Something happened around WWII that had him cut ties with the rest of my family; I've never figured out exactly what, but either way, I haven't heard many stories about him other than his obituary and a few other bits and pieces, and I don't think I've seen a photo of him before.
If you happen to have any additional information about him (maybe an old photo or something?--I can hope!), I'd be very grateful. Feel free to continue this discussion on email if you'd like, my email address is scottjparkey (at) gmail.com.
