I am an avid family historian for over 30 years and a native Montanan. When I was working on my MA thesis in History ("Myron Brinig's Butte: Jews in the Wide Open Town"), I spent a summer transcribing the information from the graves at the B'Nai Israel cemetery in Butte (my home town).
Family names I am researching include:
Wilson - McWhirter
Chartier/Carter - Neveu
Bertrand - Kuether
Sutherland - Sollars
Brittain - McMinn
Vance - Cole
Douthitt - Moore
Find a Grave is not a scholarly website. I think it has many purposes including providing catharsis and aiding with the grieving process, helping people with their family history, connecting relatives, remembering the dead, finding burial sites, etc. Sometimes all we know about a family member is what is printed in an old biography or what someone told us. This acts as a foundation for finding, correcting, adding to their history. I believe this should be a friendly collaborative process where we build together a story as we find more information. I will make mistakes. Feel free to let me know and I will correct.
My philosophy on transfers is simple - I believe memorials should be in the hands of relatives, even if not close relatives. I am happy to transfer, in fact I am waiting for the relatives of the B'Nai Israel and St. Patrick's cemetery memorials to contact me to care for their family memorials. I'm happy to transfer to relatives.

Anytime I can help you I will !! Hope you and your family have a great holiday.
|Juelette Fadness||George Sollars|
Hi Pam, George is not a relative of mine, so I'm happy to transfer his memorial to you. What a wonderful photo of George! Best Wishes, Juelette Fadness
I saw your name on some Virginia area Vance family's memorials and thought I'd say hello! I have a few of my more recent family members in a virtual cemetery with other connected surnames if you'd like to check them out. :)

Hi Pam! Thanks for letting us know about Amy. Not sure about the difference in middle initial. I was only going by the stone on that one. Thanks!

I posted the picture you requested on findagrave yesterday. While I was posting it I noticed that I had already taken a picture and posted it in October. I'm not sure if you knew that or not. The one I took today is a better picture and if you like I will remove the older picture, but please let me know first. Maybe you were wanting a better picture??
|Robert C. Sollars||Solomon W. Sollars (1839-1898)|
Great job! Solomon W. Sollars was my 1st. cousin twice removed. His youngest daughter, Martha and I exchanged US Mail and I visited with her in her 90s. She was an amazing little lady. Her memory was sharp. Her home immaculate in Sonora, CA. She loved listening to baseball games, drove her own car did her own shopping which is no easy task in Sonora as it had only one stop light and seemed always crowded. She was a wonderful women. She had the neat handwriting of a 16 year old.
I started down the road of genealogy back in 1958 and have never reached the end of it! Is the Sollars line in your lineage? If so, I can likely help you there and its branches. I have several on Find-a-Grave.
I did an update on the photo of Solomon.
