Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

Hello, I am a relative of the Tinnin Family (which includes William Tinnin #20357552) and I was wondering if I could have your permission to use all of their grave stone photos on my personal family tree?
Thank you!

Thomas Benton King
The picture you posted for Thomas Benton King, #12185344, is not "your" Thomas Benton King. I have an ancestor named Thomas Benton King who was a Civil War Veteran. In fact, I have his military records that have this very picture on them, but with different dates and places of birth and death than what you have posted. Please remove this picture as it is not the right person.

Thank you.

Unknown Confederate
Could you please provide any information on the unknown Confederate buried in Cleburne Memorial? I am looking for a former veteran that moved to Brenham, Texas, but died while in Cleburne on business. I have an obituary from a Greensboro Patriot that Col. John Sloan died and was buried in the Cleburne Cemetery. Many folks have looked for this man and failed. I came across another obituary of his sister-in-law and it gave the clue that John Sloan, 27th NC removed to Texas. Thanks.

Memorial Transfer Request
Could you please transfer the memorial of Charles Wilson to me? He was buried at the New Gordon Cemetery. He passed away recently and I wanted to edit it with some notes and photos. Thanks
