Bio and Links
I have been doing genealogy for the past 42 years and what I have on my family history is very extensive. I am researching the names: Davis, Clanton, Woodworth, Brant, Mosbarger, Parker, Willey, Thorla, Humfreville (with variant spellings), Williams, Catron (with variant spellings, such as Kettenring), Hytche, Ingram, Alexander.

I enjoy Find A Grave and have found that the majority of people who are contributors to it are kind, considerate, and very thoughtful, but I have come into contact with some that are not. They have memorials of people who I am related to and they are not, yet they refuse to transfer those memorials to me when I make such a request. This is inconsiderate and unkind. I do not place memorials on Find A Grave of people who I am not related to, but I have transfered some to other's if I find that they are directly descended from that person upon which I do have a memorial.

To the majority of Find A Grave contributors I say, "Continue to be kind and considerate, people appreciate it more than you know."

Family lineage
Hello again, Looking through the family names you have listed in your profile, I can anticipate you descend through Emily Thorla Willey, daughter of Benjamin Thorla and Elizabeth Allen... and that this is your interest in *our* Allen family. As you are apparently a family member, I know it would be important to you to have a correct identification. As I'm sure you are aware, Elizabeth Allen Thorla was the daughter of Asher Allen and Elizabeth Palmer, Asher was the son of Phineas Allen and Alice Cady, Phineas was the son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell, Timothy was the son of Samuel Allen and Rebecca Cary, etc. I suspect we agree on this information... and that you added the memorial for a Timothy Allen thinking he was the son of "our" Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell. You are defensive of your research because this is "your" family. But, it's my family too... and I would appreciate if you were sensitive to the fact that others put a lot of effort and care into their family research too. You apparently do not directly descend from the Timothy Allen about whom we disagree. However, I DO directly descend from Timothy Allen, son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell. My mother's maiden name is Allen, so yes, I have strong feelings about having only factual information posted.

You have identified Timothy Allen (Find A Grave #21944597) as the son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell in your biography. However, he is NOT the son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell, and he does NOT have the birth information you have assigned to him. Unfortunately, the Family Data Collection has combined the information for two men named Timothy Allen, providing the birth information for one and the death information for the other as if they were one person. This has led to mayhem in the trees over at Ancestry.com, and perpetuating the misinformation here at Find-A-Grave is not helping people sort it out. Posting only factual information on your memorial would go a long way to helping other folks find their TRUE ancestry. So PLEASE, I am asking you to take your own advice listed above in your own biography... and KINDLY consider the edits. Your memorial is the Rev. Timothy Allen, born in Barrington, Bristol Co, Massachusetts (an area that was ceded from Massachusetts to Rhode Island after Timothy's birth). His parents were Ebenezer Allen (Find A Grave #74494384) and wife Hannah. His wife was Mary Bishop, and they had four documented children: Harmony, Finelah, Evangelah, and Theodamy (who is already correctly linked as the daughter of the Timothy Allen you manage).

Timothy Allen, son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell, is Find A Grave memorial #42537774. He died in Pawlet, Rutland Co, Vermont, where you will find a probate record for his will in 1810. The documented children for "my" Timothy Allen, son of Timothy Allen and Rachel Bushnell, are Capt. Parmalee Allen, Sgt. Gideon Allen, Col. Caleb Allen, Sgt. Mjr. Justus Allen, Dr. Daty Allen, Mary Elizabeth Allen Culver, Sarah Allen Allen (married 2nd cousin), and Deacon Timothy Allen. The family as written about in several historical biographies, as they were very active and well-known in the Pawlet area. And, of course, many of the historical biographies were written in the hey-dey of folks wanting to highlight their connection to Revolutionary War patriots... and this family was full of them! You should be proud to claim the correct Timothy Allen as part of your extended family. :-)

Thank you, your "cousin" Evey

RE: Timothy Allen
Also, if you are secure in your identification of the parents, why did you not link your Timothy Allen to the graves of his parents?

RE: Timothy Allen
Your comment on my wall was rude, whereas mine to you was not. Yes, I have been "doing genealogy" as long as you, which you would have known if you had bothered reading my profile or my father's memorial... or if you bothered pulling up some of the biographies I have provided on the memorials I manage. I sent you a link to both memorials for Timothy Allen, and asked for clarification between the two. There are MANY people who believe "their" Timothy Allen information is correct, and many of these well-meaning people have significant experience in genealogy. But, they still have settled upon contradictory information. Obviously, not everyone is correct. I am looking for clarification and CLEAR DOCUMENTATION about which is correct. As I'm sure you are aware, a "Family Data Collection" record is not sufficient as proof because they are often riddled with inaccuracies. Could you please politely provide some documentation regarding why you believe yours is correct as written?

A.H. Butler
I am looking for an A.H. Butler that was the Assessor in St. Clair County, Mo. in 1881-1882. Is there any indication that this person was there then?
Thanks,
Peggy

I will try sending the obit again. Maybe it will print out for you on another message.

Do you know how to copy and paste to Nellie's memorial page under the 'Bio" edit?
