|Steve McCalip||Ephraim McCaleb|
Hi Janice, I think I may have talked to you before. You probably have talked with my cousin Vickie Webb about the McCaleb/McCalip line that went to Mississippi. Vicki seems to think that Ephraim was the grandfather of our Daniel McCaleb (ip) that lived in Mississippi and came there about 1800. He was born about 1775. Do you know of any connection between Daniel and Ephraim. She doesn't know Daniel's father but says his grandfather is Ephraim. You can email me at email@example.com

when proof is found of his wife being Mary Hallum, I will change record.
|Tis an old, old path||Thomas Alonzo Menefee|
Hi, You recently left me a message saying that Thomas Alonzo Menefee was born in Lincoln Co., Tenn near the Alabama boarder and not in Kentucky as shown on his memorial.
Kentucky as his place of birth was provided by a couple that live in the area of his burial after their extensive research.
I have just looked at his census records from 1850 to 1900 and all but one says that he was born in Alabama (those years include 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1900 as AL; 1880 as TN).
Please share your source for his place of birth being Lincoln Co., TN. Are you related to Thomas Menefee, if so, how are you related?
Thank you, nj
Have you been in touch with Carolyn Turner or Ruth McFarland in your research?
Also, the James McCaleb in Smith Co TN area is a different James McCaleb than one in Hickman Co. Tn. They are related. The Allison's and McCaleb intermarried. Allison stayed in Smith?putnam/white co Tn. McCaleb came to Hickman Co., Tn.

Then who is the Sarah H McCaleb buried with James McCaleb in Peach Orchard Cemetery? Check Court record in Hickman Co Tn. William Harrington per court records cared for orphans of james and Sarah's children in 1840.
Until I find proof otherwise, my records will remain as they are.
I also have worked on this history since 1975 with everyone in Hickman Co. and elsewhere.
I take no one's say so as proof. I make notes of it and find other records to back it up.
