Bio Photo THE TWO TAPHOPHILIACS
This photo was taken on Bama Day in 1961. Roll Tide!

Hi, My name is Nannette WORRELL SERRA. I have been doing WORRELL and related Perry County Alabama family histories for about 10 years now. When I realized that someone's child had never viewed her father's grave at Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetery in St. Louis I volunteered to do cemetery look-ups there. It is also my way to return to others all the wonderful things they have done in helping me with my hobby.

My husband Julio eventually caught my addiction and we started his SERRA (Cuba) and JONES (Indiana) genealogies.

I got tired of lugging around cameras so now I run out with my cell phone to record as many tombstones as I can and he does more artistic photos with cameras and lenses. We've really enjoyed our hobby.

RE: Uncle Ellis Holifield
Did you create the other memorials or did someone else? If someone else created the children's memorials or the link, that person will have to edit the memorial and information. You can click the Edit tab on each child's memorial and ask the creator of the memorial to help you correct the problem/s. This also applies to any memorial created by anyone else but yourself.

Sorry, I'm teaching. You probably know this. The only other solution is to ask Find a Grave Administration to help. You can get the email and instructions for this through the Find A Grave pages.

I plan to contact Administration and let them know that the cemetery named Statesville Cemetery does not exist. I don't know why it was allowed to be created. They usually "vet" the names, addresses, etc. Before I do this, however, I'll contact the other memorial creators on that cemetery and try to help. When checking with the Oakwood Cemetery administrator, I found that only 3 of the 8 are listed in Oakwood records.

Let me know if this helps at all.

Holifield/Hollifield
Yes, we still use the extra "l". Jesse D had 4 kids/ 2 sons. They all use the extra l. His youngest son , Will , was my great grandfather. My father played football in college at Marion and ran into quite a few of the Holifields. My husband actually did some work in Perry county last spring and I sent him on a mission to the cemeteries. O want to go this fall and make sure he has gotten photos of as many as we can find. I wish someone knew where Jesse and his wives were buried. Son Jesse is buried in Bibb county where he was killed in a mining accident. Like you said, it is good to connect with family and fill in some blanks.

I don't know why you were having trouble because I have not deleted the memorial. It appears that you did get them linked from looking at Jesse Thomas Holifield's memorial. My maiden name is Hollifield. My gg grandfather was Jesse D Hollifield, son of Jesse Holifield. He was the youngest child of Jesse Holifield, his mother the 3rd wife. He would have been the younger brother of Jesse Thomas Holifield's grandfather, Will. I am not sure as to why or when our branch added a second l to the name.

Do you have a picture of William Richard Guyse (1907 - 1962)?

Back Creek Cemetery
I have Dean relatives buried there so it was not much of a problem to photograph the stones. It isn't a large cemetery but very old. Many broken stones piled up.

I lived in Fairmount for some time and graduated from high school there in 1950. One of my good friends and classmate was David Jones. Sorry to say he is deceased.

Hello again
Re: Octavia Levert. If you go to my friends list, there is a findagrave member named Curtis Carter. It is his family cemetery in which Octavia is buried in and would be thrilled to give you a tour. I haven't spoken to him in a while but it couldnt hurt to contact him for more info or to tell him about Octavia. I think he'd be thrilled.

Hello
Thank you for the additional information for Octavia LeVert's memorial. The memorial is currently maintained by findagrave admin. after being made a famous memorial. Corrections or additions have to go to them. Appreciate the added information though. She was an interesting individual.
