Eugene 'P. Bear' Amster | Systems specialist, 52
Eugene S. "P. Bear" Amster, 52, of Upper Darby, a computer systems specialist who worked in cable television and high-rise alarm systems, died Thursday at Crozer-Chester Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Amster studied at the RCA Technical Institute in Cherry Hill after graduating from Upper Darby High School in 1970.
Mr. Amster installed dispatch equipment for Delaware County police and firefighters and cable TV systems in Wildwood. For seven years, he worked for the Standard Electric company in Philadelphia installing high-rise alarm and computer-operated fire safety systems in public buildings including hospitals and schools.
In 1979, he joined the Bell & Howell Co.'s Philadelphia office as a senior service technician and later worked for Lockheed Martin in Valley Forge.
At the time of his death, he was a manager of Frolic on the Pike, an eclectic gifts store in Oaklyn, N.J.
He was married to Victoria Clark Amster for 12 years before the couple divorced.
Surviving are sons Leo Zelino, Stephen "Tigger" Zelino, and Joshua Amster; daughters Rebecca and Sarah "Rah" Amster; one sister; one granddaughter; and companion Pamela Mark.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. today at Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home, Garrett Road and Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill. Services follow at noon. Burial is in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills.Added by D&D on Nov 17, 2012 6:34 PM | | | D&D
