Bio

I am the son of the late Cora Etta Squires. Arthur Clarence Squires was the son of Arthur Clarence Squires' senior, my mom's father. PFC Squires was the only brother of my mom.
When I was growing up, mom shared a few distant memories about her deceased brother. One, he went AWOL so that he could visit my mother and his two other sisters while they were in a catholic orphanage, their mother Myrtle Cora Goodridge(Goodriche) having died. Two, she wore one of his military ribbons on a blouse and never removed it. One day, worn and frayed, a gust of wind blow the fabric free of its pin and it was lost forevermore.
The only surviving picture of PFC Squires is the one in his military record.
A few years ago, I met via email the son of a man who had gone to Boot Camp with my uncle. This son's father had passed away but he remember PFC Squires as a lanky man with a great sense of humor.
Although I never knew PFC Squires, I cherish his memory and am grateful I still have the presence of mind to ensure he is not forgotten while I still live. Not a month goes by in which I do not honor the life of my departed uncle.
