Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family are mostly from Monroe County, Ohio. I spent lots of time there as a child on my grandparents farm on Grizzle Ridge Road. I have lots of information and old photos from that area I'm anxious to add to this site.

Names I'm currently researching are mostly my family's and include Decker, Clark, Workman, Griffith, Brown, Schenk, Freitag (Friday) Murphy, Fisher, Young, McMahon, Turner, Ullman, Mellott and Ott.

Please take a minute to look through my virtual cemetery, "Grandma's Album." ==>
These are photos of friends and relatives I have not yet identified. Maybe you will recognize someone and be able to help me identify them. Maybe they are a relative of yours?

For me, this is about doing something good for my family members and yours, too! It's not about keeping score, taking credit for something or seeing how many memorials I can build. It's exiting to research and locate family members that I never knew about. If I can help you find yours in the Ohio area please let me know, I'd be happy to help.

Tom

John Wilbur Case #86703962
Tom, thank you for the memorial you created for John Case that was recorded Mar. 13, 2012. (photo of headstone by Michael Smuda)
No one in the family ever knew what happened to John. Last we heard he was in California so when I found this memorial, it seemed to fit. Is there any way for you to recall what prompted the creation of this memorial? What I was hoping for was a possible contact person. Any information you may have relating to your effort to create this memorial would be appreciated. Funeral home, obituary, anything.
regards,
Judy

HelloTom,

I have been researching my gg grandmother Eliza McMahon Duffy and just discovered a memorial that lists her parents as Thomas and Sarah McMahon. I was wondering if you might have any info or maybe can point me in the right direction.
The memorial is 137202489. Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Benjamin Guse
Hi Tom,

Find A Grave #87212085 has an error in the name. It should actually be Benjamin "Bennie" Guse. It's horrible that the gravestone makers couldn't get the name right on the tombstone. So sad!! Bennie was my father's older brother. Bennie never had a marriage partner and he died without family around. Maybe that's why no one was there to make sure his tombstone was correct. Again, how sad.

Would you please edit your Find A Grave page to reflect the name Benjamin "Bennie" Guse. At least his page can identify him correctly.

Woodland Stoddards
Tom,
It looks like you duplicated Eliza Stoddard. Find A Grave Memorial# 86906529, with Find A Grave Memorial# 88038113.
David Stoddard, Find A Grave Memorial# 86898202 with Find A Grave Memorial# 88038111.
Agnes Stoddard, Find A Grave Memorial# 85599934 with Find A Grave Memorial# 88038109
John Stoddard, Find A Grave Memorial# 85599646 with Find A Grave Memorial# 88038118.
They were about of month ahead of you.

I matched most of these up by burial dates.

James Finley Christy
Hello,

My records reveal that both the husband and wife Mary Ann Cecil Christy tribute should be in the Pioneer graysville cemetery. Not the Graysville church of christ.

Reference tribute 90783263. Grave Row 7 #2 in Pioneer cemetery.

Information acquired from the Monroe county cemetery inscriptions book of benton and washington townships.

Please transfer the husband and wife to the correct Pioneer Graysville cemetery.

Many thanks.

P.S. This is a common mistake. People get the cemeteries confused all the time.

Joseph Doraen
Just and FYI on your posting for Joseph Doran, d. Jan 5 1922 in Yolo, California.

He was born in Kosciusko County, Indiana in 1849. His father was Isaac Doran b. 1824 in Franklin County, Virginia. His mother was Maria Bybee born 1826 in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

Maria Bybee Doran was killed by Indians in the 1850's as they were crossing the Plains, thought to be in Nebraska. His father Isaac continued to California and a Dutch couple took him in.

He returned east and with a new wife headed back west and theory has it they were killed along the way. They Dutch couple changed his name to Dorean but not formally.

His wife was Martha Puterbaugh. They were my husbands great great grandparents.
