" Are All The Children In "

I think oftimes, as night draws nigh,
Of an old farmhouse on a hill,
Of a yard all wide and blossom-starred
Where the children played at will;
And when the night at last came down,
Hushing the merry din,
Mother would look around and ask,
"Are all the children in?

'This many and many a year since then,
And the old house on the hill
No longer echoes to childrens feet,
And the yard is still;
But I see it all as the shadows creep,
And tho' many the years have been,
Since then I can still hear mother ask,
"Are all the children in?'

I wonder if when the shadows fall
On that last short, earthly day,
When we say good-bye to the world outside,
All tired from our childish play;
When we step out into that Other Land,
Where mother has long since been,
Will we hear her ask, just as of old-
"Are all the children in?"

Both Darrel Dexter (UC Cemeteries Vol III) and her gravestone list her death date as 10 Jun 1944, not 19 Jun 1944 as listed on this web page:

RE: Thomas & Sarah Hale
Thank you, Vicki for all the information that you have provided to me! I am new to genealogy so it's always nice to have someone offer their assistance. If I could trouble you with just one more thing, do you know of any service records for John? Or pension records, etc? I would love to see them.

Best, Cassidy

Thomas & Sarah Hale

I am so thrilled that you got back to me. The photos are incredible!
I am a 4th great-granddaughter of Thomas and Sarah through their daughter Nancy.

I did do a Google search of the book you mentioned. I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of any of the volumes. Please let me know if you know anyone with a copy to sell! I would love love love to purchase it.

That is phenomenal that you have the family Bible and the bureau. Really treasures.

I have so many questions if you don't mind me peppering you with them!

On Nancy's death certificate, it lists her parents as Thomas Hale and Sarah JANE Lowe. Do you think that was just a mistake?

Do you have any info on Thomas and Sarah's parents? I see Thomas's parents are listed as Thomas Hale and Mary Ann Hutchinson. Is that in the family Bible by any chance?

And are you aware of any Revolutionary War soldiers from their line? My family is full of history lovers, and they are always so excited to hear of a Revolutionary War ancestor.

Thank you so much, Vicki! Sincerely. I am beyond happy to talk to you.

Hale Family
Hi Vicki!

I am so happy to have found find-a-grave entries that you posted about the Hale Family. I see that you have a photo of Thomas A. Hale II (memorial # 83846057). I was wondering if you could tell me where that came from? Additionally, there is a photo for Sarah Ann Lowe (memorial # 83853850) of four people. Do you know anything about that photo? Where it came from? Who is who?

I would sincerely appreciate anything you could tell me about them!!

All the very best,

Please check
On John Alexander Foster's page you have spouse listed as:Martha Morrison died 1802, and that she had a child-Rufus in 1814. That's 12 years after she died, and she would have been 70 had she been alive. Sorry to post publically but there is no other contact that I see. Thank you.

Lillie Mae Putnam
Hello! I noticed you posted the link for Lillie Mae Putnam (1862-1908). My in laws bought some vacation property in Pikeville TN. My family was hiking the property this weekend and came across her grave. The stones are still in good condition with a beautiful lamb headstone. Do you have any information on her? Did she live on that property? Are there any other gravestones there? Thanks for any information. We plan to clean up the site and place some flowers next time we are there.
