Arthur H. Dedor age 98 of Fredericksburg died Thursday evening, June 6, 2013, at the Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch presiding. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 20113, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Arthur Henry Dedor was born October 10, 1914, in Tripoli, IA, the son of George and Mary
(Krueger) Dedor. At a young age, the family moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI, where he received his education in rural country schools. The family later moved back to live in the Sumner, IA, area. Arthur met his future wife at Walther League and on December 26, 1939, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, he married Leona Gitch. To this union three daughters were born. The couple initially farmed on rented land and in 1957 purchased their own farm located four miles east of Fredericksburg. They retired into town and built their home in 1977. The couple loved traveling and also wintered in Texas for several years. Leona died on June 17, 1999. Arthur continued to live in their home before becoming a resident of Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare on June 14, 2011. Arthur loved car rides to check the crops, fishing and eating at all the local restaurants. He always made time for family vacations. In 2000, he was named the "Grand Dairyman" for the Annual Fredericksburg Dairy Days.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred (Ty) Burger of Waterloo, Bernice (Darwyn) Leisinger of Waterloo, Virginia Dedor of Elgin; three grandchildren, Tyrone (Jennifer) Burger of Runnells, IA, Tina Leisinger of Waverly, Amy Leisinger of Lombard, IL; one sister, Edith (Robert) Gersonde of Sumner; one sister-in-law, Carmen Dedor of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Edwin Dedor, Ernest Dedor; one sister, Meta Moore.
