Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello everyone, my name is David. After more than 10 years as just "David," I decided to change my public name, as I am a perplexed historian. I may go back to David, but for now I am enjoying the change. I am a professor of history and have always loved to research my family history, and to pay tribute to my lost loved ones. Find A Grave is a great way to keep your family history alive. Please check out the memorials for my three departed grandparents. Marian L. Seymour (1915-2001) My beloved grandmother meant the world to me and I am glad she has this tribute, and My two grandfathers Harold H. Seymour (1913-1997), and Raymond Dominic Stallone (1910-1993). Also check out the tribute to my Great Aunt because I made her a promise she would never be forgotten Pauline Burke (1922-2003).

2012, took from me one of my favorite people on the face of the earth, my Gretel. Gretel was the best friend of my Oma(grandmother). Gretel along with four other women constituted my favorite people on the face of the earth. I called them my hummingbirds as they fled their homes in Germany following World War II and created a friendship which formed a family. I thought of these women as superheroes and never thought I would lose one.

Gretel Dzierla (1927-2012).

Please visit the memorial of my good friend Marilyn:
Marilyn Borden (1932-2009).

Please leave me a message if you want to contact me, I no longer will give out my personal e-mail as they are never positive e-mails only complaints. I cannot help on famous memorials I have added, but if you feel you are a relative of mine or you have info I am lacking in one of my memorials, please feel free to leave a message.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY OF MY PHOTOS AND POST THEM ON OTHER WEB PAGES LIKE ANCESTRY.COM WITHOUT PERMISSION. I HAVE SPENT YEARS FINDING THEM AND WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU RESPECT MY WISHES. THANK YOU.

RE: Rachel Biddle Snyder
I'm not related either, otherwise, I would have asked permission to use it. I'm researching the Biddle's who married into my family. It's a very distant tie. I love old photographs, and am always delighted to see them attached to the name. Someone in my father's family threw away all of the old Driscoll photos. I hate to see the old images forgotten and thrown away. Rachel's is a particularly nice one. Thanks again for posting it, Linda

Elizabeth Patterson
Hi David! I work at the Hollywood Roosevelt and have been trying to find more details about Elizabeth Patterson's residence here. I'm trying to find out what room she stayed in but our records don't seem to go back that far. I could have sworn I saw saw something about room 508 in my search last week but can't seem to find it now. Any help you could give would be great! I have a guest arriving in a few weeks who would be so happy to know the answer! Thanks!

Elizabeth Patterson obit
Hello:

I enjoyed reading your nice obit for Elizabeth Patterson, one of my favorite character actresses of vintage Hollywood. I did notice one discrepancy though. You state that Miss Patterson lived her final 25 years at the Hollywood Hotel, here in Hollywood. Since the hotel was torn down in 1956 and Miss Patterson passed away in 1966, I'm curious about the ten-year difference. Thank you,

Emma Johanna Knittle Blakely and Family in California
Dear David, Could you please contact me at my email, liketobeinmaine@gmail.com about Emma Johanna Knittle Blakely who's memorial you have, and her family. I have a researcher who is driving me bonkers for some kind of proof that Emma Johanna Knittle Blakely was Nathan and Lydia McCord Knittle's daughter . She was not my g.g.grandfather Aaron S Knittle and Sarah Campbell Knittle's daughter as reported erroneously in the history of Columbia Co. Pa and the Knittle Family history. If you do not have any information that would link her to any parent can you forward my email address to them. Some where there has got to be a marriage record, letters home to parents or family or a listing of births and deaths in a family bible etc. Enjoyed reading your memorials of family and close kindered, not all of us had happy lives so appreciate seeing how life was for others and how they came through it, and what gave them the character they had. My adopted grandmother always recited a poem , to the effect if you could draw back the curtain on a persons life, see what spurned the word said and action taken you would under stand them a bit better.Still might not like them, but the view is clearer. Thanks for your help C. Campbell

Hamlows in Rose Hill Cemetery, Waverly Nebraska
Because you have posted old photographs for some of the Hamlows in Rosehill Cemetery and elsewhere I am suspicious that you are somehow related. My grandmother was Sophia Eva Hamlow Walker.

Her children were orphaned two of the three as young adults. Bill, the youngest as a pre-teen.
Consequently I have never seen any of the photographs you have submitted.

If you are related I'd love to talk and share information

RE: Jean Iles
I noticed that there are two listings for the same cemetery and I sent a message to Find-a-Grave to see if they will merge them. so the next time you check you might see that instead of 46 interments there are more than 1500 in the graveyard.

Emma Johanna Knittle Blakely # 21294919
Hello David, I am hoping that you are a descendant of Emma Johanna Knittle Blakely and William Blakely. Do you know if her parents were positively Nathan Knittle and Lydia McCord Knittle of Locust Twp. Columbia Co Pa. Carrie K.
