Find a Grave ID

Bio

My family began researching our ancestry more than 30 years ago and have many wonderful stories including discovering a great uncle who was the Governor of NC (Hutchins Gordon Burton). After finding many errors and missing information in historic records, we began traveling to the counties where our relatives are buried to collect the information ourselves. I have been photographing family grave markers for years. My desire is to create accurate tributes to aid other families in their genealogical research. If I inadvertently post a memorial to a living person please understand that it is not intentional. I will remove them if asked.

Photos I post of graves are free to use; however, any other photos can only be used by written permission and with an acknowledgement of the ownership of the photograph

All my photos are made from the best angle possible for legibility. If there is a family marker I will usually include a photo for reference in case anyone should want to find the grave later. I use soft bristled brushes to remove moss, dirt, leaves, etc. and will make every effort to clean markers (if needed) before photographing them. I do not otherwise alter any markers and make no permanent changes. Some markers may have more than one photo posted to allow for close ups of hard to read stones.

****If I maintain a memorial and they are NOT my family, I will happily transfer ownership and I would appreciate the same courtesy. To request a transfer, send duplicate notice or bio information, use the "Suggest a Correction" link. Please do not use public messages or email for these requests.****

Use the "Edit Tab" located at the top upper right side on each memorial to Correct Names, Dates, place of birth and death, to add parents and spouses, plot information, etc. This does not have to be sent to me. You can do this yourself, but please make sure your information is correct.

God bless all the volunteers who make this site possible!
