I lost my sweet son Aric Fleury on January 31, 2012. It was and still is a total shock to me. He has a brother who is in the Army and was on his second tour of Afghanistan when this happened. I remember getting a call at 10:30 on a Tuesday morning and a man on the other end of the phone said simply, "I am sorry Mrs Fleury but your son passed away a few minutes ago" It took my mind a second but I just blurted out, Which one? I just knew it my son in Afghanistan but the man said "Aric" I just completely lost control at that point. Aric was the happiest person I have ever known in my entire life. I never saw him upset. He took life in stride and made the best out of it! He had a perpetual smile on his face from the day he was born. He grew up and lived in Colorado his whole life. He loved loved loved hockey and of course the Avs were his favourite team. We had a mutual love of hockey as I was a fan since I was a kid. Every chance he got he would take his family to the Pepsi Center to see them. The love of his life was his daughter, Juno. He loved that little girl more than life itself. He took her everywhere with him and was the best Daddy I know. He also founded a band called Step Zero when he was about 15 and at the time of his death they were working on his first album. He called me about 2 weeks before his death and told me some disturbing news that had him a little depressed. I told him things would work out and be ok. The next thing I know the MAN called and informed me of his death. He woke up one morning and he had not been feeling well for a week but that morning I guess he knew something was very wrong. He died on the way to the hospital of a myocarditis caused by a viral infection his body could not fight. |
Aric was way too young to die and loved life. I miss him more everyday. It does not get better for me. His brother is still in the Army and we both miss him tremendously and talk about him often.
I love you sweet son
He was one of those kinds of Dads that would do anything for his daughter. He had many "tea" parties with his love Juno He was her major caregiver and made sure she was always fed, played, and happy! I miss him as a confidante His Dad and I were divourced about 4 years before he died but he loved each of us in our own way. We shared a cruise that I won in a contest at work when he was 16. He and I had the best time of our lives! He was so at ease with all of my friends on a business trip and go along with each of them and made a lasting impression. I remember on August when he was 16 he had a job at a local grocery store and worked after school usually gathering carts in the parking lot and worked very hard. He had a friend whose parents were not as blessed as we were and I knew he had been saving his money he made all summer. When school started he asked if I would pay for his car insurance and I said "what about the money you made this summer from your job" That is when he told me that he had bought his friend, new clothes for the school year because his parents couldn't afford any for him. He also paid for his friend's driver's ed courses. He was so selfless and giving.
Aric loved life! It is so sad that he didn't get a chance to enjoy it. He was only 26 years old when he died. I miss you sweet son.

I am so, so sorry you too know the loss of you son. Thank you for leaving the sweet pic of Thomas the Tank Engine on my son Daniel's page. When Daniel would get scared during his cancer treatment he would always say "I will be brave like Thomas, even though I not like this".

Yes, we certainly will be with them again, in God's time, not ours. I am looking forward to that, too. The pain in our hearts will just melt away. Take care, my friend.

Tanya, Today is the first time in a while that I have been on this site due to the illness of my oldest son Danny, but when I read your message about your son Aric losing his life to Myocarditis, the same disease that my son Mark had, I felt the need to let you know how terribly sorry I am about your loss. Myocarditis is a virus that attacks the heart muscle and if it is not diagnosed immediately can often be fatal within 24 to 48 hours. I was blessed that my son's was diagnosed immediately and his doctors were able to treat him successfully. Aric was such a dear and special young man and father. I know that all who knew loved him deeply.
Only a parent who had lost a child can know the unbearable pain that it brings. I just wanted to let you know tonight that my heart is with you.

Good Morning Tanya,
Thank you for your really beautiful note. And I couldn't agree with you more. You are so right- all of our military do deserve the utmost thanks, respect and honor that can be shown to them. They are indeed very special, and are the defenders of our freedom. I feel exactly as you do Tanya...exactly. Thank you for remembering Sgt. Manno. Both he and Aric are loved, missed and remembered by everyone here, and we are so glad and thankful of that.
Many blessings and love to you and your family.
