"THANK YOU" To Everyone Who Stopped By And Left A Kind Note And/Or Flower On one of My Family Memorials. They are greatly appreciated.
~ ~.ღ.¸¸.•`¯`♥ THANK YOU ♥`¯`•.¸¸.ღ ~ ~
So many people have said to me "don't you have better things to do with your time then drag up the past?" I tell all of you now, I do, but I don't.
My father, Duel Glen Going, was only 5 years old when he lost his father, Alonzo Stubblefield Going, to Typhoid. My grandmother, Pearl Cathern Holt-Going Phillips, then took her 4 children and moved to Oklahoma and there was very little contact between her and the "Going" family. Therefore, I never knew this family and very little was ever spoken of them.
My feelings are, in each family, someone is called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and feel that somehow the "old ones" know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before me.
I feel I am the story teller of the "GOING"(plus many more surnames)tribe. I feel I have been called as if it were by my genes. Those who have gone before me cry out to me: "Tell our story." So, I'm trying. In finding them, I somehow find myself.
For me, it started on a beautiful November day in the 1980's. I stood in front of my Grandfather Alonzo Going's grave in the Masonic Cemetery, Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas, and asked him, and all the other family gravestones around him, "Who were you? Where did you come from? Why didn't I get to know you?" With tears streaming down both of my eyes, I looked up into a cloudless sky of blue and vowed, at that very moment in time, I would not stop until those questions were answered.
If you have time to visit one of my family members, it would be greatly appreciated.

|GloriaBee||Malinda Idora Castleberry Brewer|
Thanks so much for posting the photo of Malinda.
She is my son-in-law's great-great grandmother (his lineage through Wesley Columbus Brewer, Malinda's son.)
I don't copy photos from Find A Grave without the permission of the owner. May I copy Malinda's photo to my son-in-law's family tree? Currently, there is a "bare bones" on Ancestry (Bigelow for DNA) and I am in the process of updating the tree.
If you say "no," I will certainly understand! Thanks so much for your consideration.
|Joe Herring||RE: Thomas J. & Jewel Pritchard|
Thomas J. and his wife Jewel Staggers Pritchard are buried at Oak Hill. I recently contacted a great-grand daughter and she confirmed that they are indeed buried there and sent me photos of there tombstone. It is now posted to find a grave. I don't know of other Pritchard's buried there, but other relatives are. Are you a relative of the Pritchard's? If you are I would like to speak to you. I have had a hard time finding Pritchard relatives. My my e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Joe Herring
|AndyP||RE: Sarah Ann Elizabeth Miller Cox|
My most sincere apologies. In fulfilling a batch of photo requests from Oak Hill, I got one for Sarah Cox and posted it to your request. When I double checked her memorial, I saw that I had the wrong one so I deleted it almost immediately. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that Oak Hill has no record of the Sarah Cox that you are asking about. See here: http://www.gabartow.org/Cem/OakHill/cem.OakHill.c.shtml

|Billy Craig Jr.||Hiram B. Goings born Georia 1799|
Have seen a A.J. Goings Born 1804 Georgia and died sometime after 1860 in Butler County,Missouri who could be a possible Brother of Hiram B. Goings.
just because someone has placed a memorial to an individual and has spent time finding the info, and someone else finds more info on that person than was in the bio in the beginning and adds it to the original work, doesn't make a duplicate. It is just bringing that info on that person or famiuly up to date. They are adding to it, which makes it more in depth and interesting to somewone else thats looking for that person.
|Maureen Stewart Barnard||James C. Matheny and Josephine Maynard Matheny Hawkins|
I am hoping that you will transfer two accounts to me, as James was my great-grandfather's brother and Josephine Maynard Matheny Hawkins was his wife. I ordered the Civil War Records for James so I have information about both of them.
