Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a 62 year old amateur genealogist who has a large file of surnames, including Reynolds, Johnson, Earhart, Sherman, Pennock, Spillman, Walker, Weaver, Rinker, Barrett, and Kilgore. Most families lived in and around central Indiana. A few migrated from Virginia, New York, and other eastern states. I am willing to take pictures and share my information with others.

Lilly Ewing Mcdougle
Hi Virgil,
Nice picture of Lilly and part of her family. I wanted to let you know I just posted a picture of Lillys mother Rebecca Gordon Ewing. She was my great grandfather Samuels older sister. Also two of their older brothers died in the CW.

God bless James

Hi Virgil,

Thanks for sending the info, I have added it to the memorial. Let me know if you want the family transferred over to you, there are 4 or 5 that I can transfer if you want.

Take care and thank you for your help.

Thanks very much
Hi Virgil:

Congratulations, this is the very best kind of genealogy research -- a tidbit is learned and then the whole story comes spilling out with more time and effort. I feel as though I understand this now and I hope you feel the same way. Now future generations of our families will also understand more about these lives. That is a great thing I feel. Thank you for passing this along.

Also, thank you ever so much for the Charles Riese lead, I had no idea what had happened to the sister, Mattie. No other tree seemed to have any idea where she went.

All the very best to you and yours. Cris Brown

George D. Reynolds
Hi Virgil: I wonder if I might connect the dots a bit- I am not 100% sure of this, but it might be that George D. Reynolds was married to Sallie Young Reynolds Benge. [Sallie was the daughter of James H. Young and Margaret Kidwell] My research started with a a newspaper article talking about "Mrs. Reynolds visiting her father James Young." I merely had Sallie married to her last husband, Benge before this.

My research shows in the 1910 Census, Sallie with a George Reynolds born 1876 in Kentucky in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio with their son, Paul J. Reynolds, born in 1908. Then with the 1920 Census, Sallie and her son are with her mother, Margaret Young, in Bear Wallow, Madison County, Kentucky and Sallie is listed as widowed. So I knew something had happened to George.

It may interest you to know that Bear Wallow in Madison County, Kentucky was renamed Dreyfus at some point in early 1900's.

Sallie and George's son, Paul J. Reynolds, 1908-1971 is buried in Dreyfus, KY at the Dreyfus Church of Christ Cemetery, [while Sallie is buried in Richmond, KY at the Richmond Cemetery with her husband, Albert Curtis Benge.] Perhaps this is where George D. Reynolds finally rests rather than Bear Wallow Cemetery...of which he seems to be the sole occupant of the Cemetery. [HA!]

As for the alleged "Murder," I know nothing about this..but I will do a bit of research on that statement. As a preacher's daughter, it seems a bit out of Sallie's character. The Youngs were nice people, educated people...I can say that as my great grandmother [Lula] was Sallie's sister. Anyway, I seem to be connecting some spaces here for you. If you need anything else to look at Memorials, please advise. All the best to you. Cris
