I gladly give my permission for any family member to use any photos that I post (be aware that this does not apply to photos belonging to Judy Campbell). |
If I have any photos of people that you want for your home, please let me know - I will be happy to send you the largest (best for print) file that I have.
Should you have old photos that are damaged, I would be happy to repair them (some can be repaired quite well...others marginally).
I am fascinated by old cemeteries. My favorite in California is the Phillips Ranch cemetery. The old English cemetery near Mulege (Baja), and the old Grand Canyon cemetery are also quite interesting. My favorite of all is the Fredricksted cemetery on St Croix.

Hi, just wanted you to know I attempted to fulfill your request for a headstone picture. I visited Downey District Cemetery yesterday and was overwhelmed. My husband and I walked off rows for over a hour and didn't make a dent in the search. It has almost 3,000 graves, many of the headstones are very worn - hard to read, no one on site to help...without a plot number, etc. it is going to be almost impossible to find the grave.
I called the city this morning to request direction. Their database is down (hopefully be up in about a month), the only employee available to assist with such a request is part-time and when the database is up, she has other requests ahead of mine. Additionally, they don't have a very helpful map of the cemetery even after we get the plot number.
Sorry, but I'll keep trying. Hopefully you'll get a picture within the year.

Thank you for the suggestion to post about Dobbs cemetery being inaccessible at this time. Is it possible to post this message to the cemetery page instead of only to the individual memorials?

You are welcome.
|Bill Haner||Penfield family|
I have great grandparents in the Penfield family. I have one copy document in my folder that you may be interested in. It was written Nov. 5, 1919 to Miss Grace A. Stayt, Galesburg, Ill...maybe a relation? It was written by someone in Hartford, CT and provided my first solid Penfield leads. I noticed your last name is Stayt and you'd posted on William Penfield's page. Please let me know if you'd like a copy and I'll be happy to scan and send to you. My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Best regards, Bill Haner

There is a Bernice Selby in California born about the same time. I almost confused the two.

That's funny, Sunny. You're welcome for the photos. :)
Elmer Martindale's cremains are in fact interred at Oakwood Cemetery in Tacoma, Pierce Washington. It is not known for sure which niche he resides in at this time. It is most likely one of those in the picture I posted.
Hopefully this summer we will be able to make a better determination of Elmers location. He is amoung several who are in the same situation at this time.

You are welcome!!
If I have already replied to your message, I apologize, but I wanted to make sure you noticed I added Harry Brooner - he was close by... may be a brother to Sam?
|Phil Rhodes||RE: Looking for William Robert Rhodes|
I am not familiar with William Robert, but there is a tree at Ancestry.com that contains his obit from the Seattle Times if this is the Robert Rhodes that lived at 2602 Harbor Ave SW and claims that he died on August 24, 1947 at the age of 59.
