Bio and Links
Bio Photo I began doing family genealogy over 30 years ago. After I retired from the military, I became very interested in the Civil War. I had visited many civil war cemeteries, and the many unknown soldiers buried in them. Every soldier who died in war for his country should be known and honored. And the families of the soldier should be able to know where he is buried, this has been my goal to provide that information to those who are searching for a soldier.

I spend a great deal of my time traveling to battlefields and cemeteries, and researching information on a soldier or person. If at anytime I can be of help or if you need more information please contact me. Or if you have more information on a soldier. If a correction needs to be made "PLEASE" contact me. Don't write an other "BIO" in the Flowers and Notes section of the Memorial. Leave a message or email me anytime.

I will tranfer memorials if it is a request made by a relative of a soldier. If you are not related please do not ask. If you have information in regards to a soldiers memorial I will be more then happy to add it.

"The Bivouac of The Dead"

The muffled drums sad roll's all beat
the soldier's last tatoo,
No more on life's parade shall meet
The brave and fallen few.

The neighing troop, the flashing blade,
The bugles stirring blast,
The charge,the dreadful cannonade,
The din and shout are past.

Rest on embalmed and sainted dead,
Dear as the blood ye gave,
No impious footstep here shall thread.
The herbage of your grave,

On fame's enternal camping ground,
Their silent tents are spread,
And glory guards with solemn round,
The bivouac of the dead.

No vision of the morrow's strife
The warrior's dream alarms,
No braying horn nor screaming fife
At dawn shall call to arms,

No rumor of the foe's advance
Now sweeps upon the wind,
No troubled thought at midnight haunts
Of love ones left behind,

Your own proud land's heroic soil
must be your fitter grave;
She claims from war his richest spoil,
The ashes of the brave.

-Theodore O'Hara-

Note: In making correction to memorials, I will make corrections, Birth dates, Death dates, Marriage dates add a spouse or children, if they have memorials, I will not add long Bio's, I just don't have the time. If you have a Bio I will be more then happy to transfer a memorial to you to add a bio, when finished just transfer it back. I spent a great deal of time traveling to battlefields and cemeteries which takes up a lot of my time, I would be greatful for any help you can give me in regards to memorials.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, I really appreciate it. I have been searching for this man for a long time and just accidentally came across the military record for him. I have his family all accounted for up here in Mass and am thrilled with your work!

Find A Grave Changes
A friend told me about this change a couple days after this was deployed. I have sent an edit/s to you so I thought maybe you didn't know about it. You might want to pass it on to your friends. thanks!!! ~Peggy

New "Automated" system for "Suggest a Correction/Submit an Edit"

******Please Note******
New System for Memorial Edits deployed by FindAGrave on 12/5/2013

Go to your Contributor/Profile page. Look in the upper right corner. You should now see a tab called "Edits" - check there to see if any have been submitted to you. Then just review and accept.

Way easier for doing updates to names/dates/places/plot numbers/links. If you don't approve within 21 days it will automatically accept it.

You still will get e-mails to add info to bio section.

I thank you so much for finding where they buried my 3rd Great Grandfather.... 12 years ago I looked and looked. I have all of his military records, but nothing ever told me where they buried him.

Thank you again!!!

I am wondering if you are related to him? I am his Great Niece and am trying to research his family and trying to figure out the mothers of his children. Was wondering if related if you could help? Thanks

Pvt Amos B. Echoff
We have encountered and enigma. Our ancestor Amos B. Echoff or also spelled Ecoff are buried in two different cemeteries. I am not concerned as much about the spelling of the last name, but why 2 different cemeteries? The death dates are identical, his Civil War military records are identical.
One cemetery is in Arendtsville, Adams County, PA and the other is Saint Johns Episcopal Church Cemetery in Compass, Chester County, PA.

The memorial number for Arendtsville is 57446006 and Compass is 19587474.

Can you explain the discrepancy?

Thank you.
