The FAQs are definitely guiderules...or are they rulelines? No matter. The FAQs *absolutely* detail site policy and all members are expected to follow them and abide by them.

Having been a beta tester for the new EDIT system, have nothing but praise for this new feature! Can get through updates in minutes what used to take hours. This new edit feature is also proving to be a huge leap in getting the name fields clean up per the naming conventions found in the FAQs (these are not optional nor subject to interpretation):

Memorial Naming Conventions:

If a hyphen or an apostrophe is part of the name, use the punctuation.

A period should be used after names where only an initial is known. If the full name is known, use the full name and not the initial.

No other punctuation should be used within any Name Field.

Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used in any Name Field.

Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.

First Name - First name of the deceased. Put the entire first name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Middle Name - Middle name of deceased. Put the entire middle name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Nickname - Nickname of deceased, if known; the nickname is automatically placed in quotes.

Maiden Name - Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank); the maiden name is automatically italicized and should only be used if the individual was married and took the spouse's surname as their new surname. If the deceased was never married, then the surname should be placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.

Last Name - Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

Any photos I've added to this site are open for anyone to use, no permission or credit needed.

I strictly adhere to the Find A Grave guidelines regarding transfers. No exceptions. Requests made outside of the guidelines, or do not state relationship, are no longer being acknowledged. Virtual cemeteries are the way to "gather" your ancestors together.

Copy-and-paste census, military and other data is not a "bio". Please don't send these type of bios because they will not be added.

Finally, I will NOT add a link to a burial unknown memorial. This site is named Find a GRAVE for a reason. Not a difficult concept.

Thank you for your work on Find a grave, and the many hours it has taken to put so many memorials into this internet site. I really do thank you for your hard work. I have sent you 2 emails via the edit option on my Grandmother's memorial requesting transfer. I have also sent 2 requests via your profile page. According to the find a grave rules, you have to change over direct family members. As I have stated, She is my Grandmother. My Mother's Mother. I have extensive changes to make and it is easier for me to make them myself. Please transfer this memorial to me. Thank you, Beverly.

Joseph Perkins Walker
Please ignore earlier message. I met for that to go on my great grandfather's site. However Franklin Fenwick was my grandfather and Myrtle Grace Walker Fenwick my grandmother and I would like to take over management of both of their Find A Grave sites.

Thanks

Karen

RE: Johan Hetzler
Johan Georg Hetzler is my Great X 5 Grandfather and I have been researching the Hetzler/Hetchler family for more than 35 years... I discovered this new info less than a month ago and was only trying to set the record straight .. I also discovered the name of Georg's father and would like to share it on find a grave; however , I am not pleased to have to be edited by another person as i am his direct descendant..

Humbly yours,
Cliff Hetchler (Hetzler)

Mr. (male)
Hi, I declined your request to put "Male" where I have Mr. That is the second one, the other one I approved, but I feel Mr. sounds better that a first name of "Male", Thank you

Hi, just wanted to say thanks for bringing to my attention the proper "prefix" for unknown males and females on the memorials I created. Don't know what I was thinking at the time, because I know that there is the drop down box to add Mr., Mrs., etc. I think that after adding 50,000 memorials/pictures at Forest Home I got a mental block! ha ha. Thanks, Nadeen

Dykstra edit (#133075962)
Just wanted to let you know I have denied your request to edit his first name from "Mr." to "Male". I have however, (upon further research) changed it to "Gerrit" which I now believe to be correct.

re: unknowns
The edit requests sent today are redundant. Per the FAQs Memorial Naming Conventions there is nothing designating Unknown vs Cant read.

Emma Pampel
#127490971 Hi, I am denying the edit request for Emma's last name, as that is her maiden name. That family line is a work in progress I forgot I need to go back and finish.
Thank you!
