|BobBoston||RE: MOH George R. Willis - Oak Grove Cemetery|
Karl, I want to thank you for your efforts. My Volunteer Phototaker energy takes me to Oak Grove quite often. Yesterday I was informed by workers they they had just installed the MOH marker. I was excited to see it. I had no idea it could be done. Thank you for your persistence. Please keep up the great work.
|Bob Velke||RE: Kearny Cross recipients|
Hi Karl. Most, but not all of the recipients of the cross were listed in GO #48. Yes, I have the list of officers, thanks. So far, I have FindAGrave records for 166 of the recipients of the Medal and 207 of the Cross. Perhaps I should create a virtual cemetery. Thanks for your help.
|Bob Velke||Kearny Cross recipients|
I noticed your virtual cemetery for Kearny Cross recipients. Can you tell me, please, about your interest in this medal? I am writing a book on the subject and would be interested in any information that you might have. In particular, what is your source for the fact that John C. Forbes, Co. H, 57th PA received the medal? Thanks very much.

Trust find you well. I have been looking at the service of Owen Sheridam Co H 69th Pa and find you have an Find A Grave ident at FAD 93018713. Looking at the two headstones it looke like the one with the name Oenie on is is probably his marker,In Ireland there are a lot of names like this denoting a person who was well liked in the community etc.Are you certain that this is probably his wife family etc?. I have little information on him.except he was a Lieut and may have been dismissed or something like this but not sure
Any info appreciated.Best wishes.
|Tom Desjardin||Isaac Orcutt|
Hi Karl -
The index card I posted on the memorial is a summary of the Adjutant General's records on the soldier catalogued by the Maine State Archives. I will send more tomorrow. Orcutt was kept on the rolls and even transferred on paper in case he ever returned. He never physically joined the 20th.
|William Sweeney||Charles Giddings|
I noticed your posting for Charles Giddings on Find a Grave and I am wondering where you found information that he is the same Charles Giddings that got the Medal of Honor? I am Vice President of the Medal of Honor Historical Society of the U.S., and we were aware of this Charles Giddings but want proof so we can get him a Medal of Honor marker. They are very strict about proving a person is the recipient before allowing a marker.
We would appreciate any information you can provide. Also can you tell me the date and newspaper that obit. came from?

Please Contact me by email (email@example.com) so that I may write you with details about Charles Sheppard's final resting place.
